I'll never change my opinion about this song - it should stay in Icelandic for Eurovision as that's the version I fell in love with! But I do worry that considering all of the Icelandic entries since the late 1990's have been translated into English, it may be expected that they will go with the more universal option (a mistake in my opinion, but I guess it's up to the artists and the songwriters/Icelandic delegation).

Don't be offended by this! I'm just saying that out of so many comments I've seen, regarding the language, most of the people who want Mundu Eftir Mér in english are people from GB or Ireland...

I understand all of those who want it in english. I understand the advantage of singing in english but I don't see Mundu Eftir Mér specifically being favoured by english. And I'm not gonna sit and write my opinion about this again. It's too big!

I agree, seems the people who are mostly rooting for English are the ones with English as mother tongue, which I find kind of sad because I thought Eurovision fans had an more open mind towards other countries and languages (as that's sort of the whole point with the contest). Oh well..

And yeah, especially this entry makes no sense in English. Ethnic entries are ethnic for a reason.

Icelandic language is beautiful enough to keep it for ESC. Song is very good, another 12 pts this year

I agree, seems the people who are mostly rooting for English are the ones with English as mother tongue, which I find kind of sad because I thought Eurovision fans had an more open mind towards other countries and languages (as that's sort of the whole point with the contest). Oh well..

And yeah, especially this entry makes no sense in English. Ethnic entries are ethnic for a reason.

Actually I think it's the people who you say are 'rooting for English' are in fact saying that the language choice should be up to the singers and the broadcasters themselves, I dont see how's that not having an open mind. I think it's those who've said that English will dirty the song that have a closed mind, but you know .

I agree, I'm afraid it may lost it's great spirit when translated into English. I cannot imagine for example Dinle, Oro, Randajad and now Mundu Eftir Mer in English and I think same as A-lister that music is at most about feeling, melody, rythm, instruments not words. Of course sometimes there are songs at Eurovision that they're meaningful, but we live in 21st century what's the problem to google the translation if you want to know what the song is about. I think Greta&Jonsi should record English version but only for promotional purposes. They will share their story of the song, but keep the Islandic for ESC stage. I think it's a fair diplomatic solution and I'm happy that there are still people who love the diversity and likes to listen to different languages Too many countries are going the easy way by choosing English, there are songs that it's not a problem but also there are ones like this when the language is integrated part of the song that gives the special vibe.

That's why Spain and Israel are my top ESC countries! Spain does pretty bad every year and yet they keep sending songs in spanish!

+1... Usually, I´m a friend of English langauge in ESC, but the Icelandic langauge gives something special to this song.

What's that supposed to mean?? If you are referring to myself, I've never said it should be in English, but that it doesnt matter if it's in English or Icelandic. What's the difference? It will sound good in both languages. Advantage of English is that most will understand it, advantage of Icelandic is that it will be Iceland's native tongue.

Just on that point, the song would sound completely different in English. It would have a completely different feeling. As I've said before, I prefer most ESC songs in English, but this is one major exception and if they do English they will blow their chances of victory. And in It's current form, I believe this song can consider itself a contender for victory.

Greta Salóme, performer and composer of the Icelandic entry for Eurovision 2012, has announced she is currently working on creating the best version of ‘Mundu Eftir Mer’ (EN: Remember me) for Eurovision 2012.

According to the rules of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins, the entries had to be written and performed in Icelandic, and after winning the final, the artist has the choice to perform the entry in Icelandic, English or even a bilingual version at the contest. According to Greta nothing has been decided yet, but she announced the following statement on her Facebook page; “It will be announced not later then March 16th!” On the other hand, Greta Salóme announced that she has been working on several changes to song which will be recorded by 25 musicians of the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, which was where she started working with back in 2008.
