Re: HUNGARY 2019

Finally a result that satisfy me  Thank you A Dal for saving my night, and thank you Hungarian people for saving Fatal Error.
Is there gonna be a jury in the final ?
Yes the voting in the final will be like in previous years, but different from the previous rounds: after all songs performed the 4 jury members individually rate the songs giving 4, 6, 8 and 10 points to their favourites. The top 4 of this voting goes to the super final where televoting alone picks the winner.

Unfortunately I think Fatal Error will fall there. Last year AWS sneaked through with just 8 points, I predict this year they will make sure it won't happen.
I think Bogi Nagy, Bence Vavra are sure to be out here too, my 4th guess is Acoustic Planet despite winning the semi last week.
So my guess for the super final is Joci Pápai, Gergő Szekér, The Middletonz and Petruska. And then it would be between the first three, but I have no idea who could win among them. In the semis they all received an improved 9 after all getting an 8 in the heats.

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Guess my ranking would be:

Fatal Error (not happening)
Gergő Szekér or Acoustic Planet (the last not happening either)
Joci Pápai
Vavra Bence
Petruska
Bogi Nagy
The Middletonz

So I guess Gergő Szekér would be most realistic, but my heart is not with this song … but who cares … *resigned*

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Ugh this is gonna get exhausting to the T.

• The Middletonz: I have all the respect in the world to András trying again, Farshad being that 'cool' dude with everyone else despite not being a native, and Holló being the intriguing producer guy that dresses the same way I would if I were to have my own THAT phase in highschool (now college). But if any other song in ESC DARES to have a drop like THAT, I will throw it to the fire, just like those pictures in the music video. But I lowkey want them at the same time? Especially considering 1) no one foreign has ever gone under Hungary's flag, 2) we never had Hungary singing in other language than English and Hungarian (as Farshad drops an "I love you" in Russian for this one). So that's at least that.
• Petruska: get in the bin. I do like this song but its carefree attitude pisses me off and makes me laugh rather than makes me legit enjoy it for now. If it makes it to top 4 it's easily the Budapest Girl of 2019, tbh.
• Bence Vavra: very happy for him qualifying to the final on his 3rd try. Wish it actually was with "Satellites" though.
• Acoustic Planet: the harmlessly inoffensive qualifiers #1, will easily drown in general context if chosen this year. What else has it got going for itself than being calm? Our Ieva from last year at least stood out with her legit genuine love feelings for her hubbyboi, this... is just pleasant filler. Don't @ me Koala
• Bogi Nagy: the harmlessly inoffensive qualifier #2, which might as well play the card of her good memories as that something that's going for her, because of her overused projection dress shtick actually having her pics on it (or so I think they are??). At least you can feel she's so very happy for herself and her parents.
• Fatal Error: hmmm, I do love their passion and energy but I feel like I should have abandoned stanning them weeks ago, but I'll still support them on their future journeys even if they don't win (and that's mostly the case now that juries are preventing from an AWS-gate to re-happen!)! Cool dudes with cool hair dye, that's all.
• Joci Pápai: I'd have only had him as a possible winner and only if the semi qualifiers sucked. Now that my #2 placer made it though, I'm back on that fence of either screaming that Hungary is cancelled or accept this being a winner choice. Though surrounding AWS with his own qualifications in ESC history would be a lulzy move for Joci but okay  Still love that staging though, this is my type of staging to suggest for all good stripped back songs that lack a good staging tbh.
• Gergő Szekér: phew. Thought he'd be so not comfortable with the 1st slot again, but hey - we now have some movement AND background action! Really HOPE he wins now so that this year I will have to root for someone with good intent rather than just in a "oh my biggest fave name didn't win but hey the other choice's pretty cool so yeah" way, and this sounds like that kind of way at least because of losing Leander Kills in heats, but as long as my faves are still there, I'll be alright and hope to see them in ESC.

The plagiarism situation could sway the whole thing both ways; however it's just for the better the A Dal song picking 'commitee' pays deeper attention to what they're picking so they could avoid the cases like the one Freddie ended up describing today. Less nerves wasted, less scandals. (Or even if it ends up fake, it's just mad. Dudes wtf.)

Nevertheless, this is what I picture the final 4 to be:

Gergő Szekér
Joci Pápai
Bogi Nagy
Petruska/Acoustic Planet

Winner: Joci/Gergő. Will have to see which one ups their game better for Saturday though. And please A Dal organizers, DON'T dare put Gergő 1st to perform again! That's enough

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Someone on youtube suggested Petruska is the plagiarist for copying LoveWave and I have no idea how to react to this

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Your review reminded me how I missed this year the detailed resumes of @Edward he wrote in the 2018 topic :D

Well, I also post my ranking:

I'd be happy with one of these:
01 Gergő Szekér. I had my doubts about him 'cause he is quite a newcomer, but he did very well twice. I liked the improved visual performance.
02 Joci Pápai. I loved his performance yesterday, he just has so powerful vocals. It's different from Origo, and maybe less competitive but definitely just as great.
03 The Middletonz. Maybe the best effort from András after Running. He and Slashkovic work very well together on stage, those parts are the best when they are 'answering' to one another.

I'd be OK with these, but prefer my top3:
04 Bogi Nagy. She's so cute, sings beautifully, she lifts the song so much without her it would be boring, it's her who she makes it magical.
05 Fatal Error. They're just as likeable as the guys from AWS. They do put on a great show but their song didn't grab me as much as Viszlát nyár did.
06 Acoustic Planet. Cute song, but the singer is quite unexperienced and overwhelmed already by the A Dal studios, definitely not ready for performing at ESC.

Considering the other songs in the line-up, I'd prefer these to not win:
07 Petruska. I preferred his more uptempo 2016 entry. He's a good singer-songwriter though.
08 Bence Vavra. Not bad, but quite average to me.

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Ok my ranking:

1. Petruska - he's not going to win but I've loved these Graceland vibes since day 1 (lol if the plagiarism accusations are saying he copied Graceland because that's weak as hell)
2. The Middletonz - I'm rooting for them for Tel Aviv - great chemistry, great vocals, modern production, another Hungarian hit.
3. Gergo Szeker - A good looking guy with a melting pot of genres in Hungarian, not a lot to dislike! Would probably get them a decent result.
4. Fatal Error - another great metal song and they're fun.
5. Joci Papai - this one's dwindling with me! He's obviously a great singer but I was not a fan of the rearrangement.
6. Acoustic Planet - Pleasant but not very competitive.
7. Bence Vavra - Eh.
8. Bogi Nagy - Avoid her like the plague. A tired-ass piano ballad is the last thing this ESC needs.

Re: HUNGARY 2019

for all my derision for a dal ever since they killed my top 2 leander kills and david heatlie, they ended up having a pretty good final roster lol. as long as they (DON'T READ THIS GIANLUCATOMOE) make sure to eliminate the remaining women, hungary still remains with a pretty good chance at keeping their qualification streak.

1- gergo szeker - madar repulj (10 points)
2- the middletonz - roses (8 or 10 points depending if they re-edit their song because the current cut is sub-festivali i kenges)
3- petruska - help me out of here (8 points)
4- fatal error - kulcs (8 points)
5- bence vavra - szotlansag (song: 4 points, staging: 10 points, average: 7 points)
6- joci papai - az en apam (song: 8 points, staging: 6 points, average: 7 points)
7- acoustic planet - nyari zapor (2 points)
8- bogi nagy - holnap (0 points)

There's someone literally fucking with my faves. Firstly Leander Kills get eliminated in heats, then Gergő Szekér is the alleged plagiarist... please cancel A Dal already and send something random last minute for all I care, because I won't cope with this

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Well this song in question arose to the public:

i don't really see the similarity. it's not "petruska copied lovewave!!" levels of unfounded and stupid, but really a bunch of songs use this kind of instrumentation. it's like saying the zeljko clones are actually plagiarising zeljko. this plagiarism mystery plot is stank tbh. ebu does precisely nothing about plagiarism issues anyway.

Re: HUNGARY 2019

Imo there are similarities but there's not even one line that is actually identical (unlike in the case of Diogo last year for example)

I hope they will clear it up tomorrow and that noone will get DQd

Oh puh-leeeeeease. People are just being bitter betties because the televote faves are being slain left and right and they cannot deal with it unless they launch a smear campaign against whoever is the current Jury pet (Petruska, Gergö). Ignore all that shit. It bears no relevance whatsoever.
