It's still a song contest and not opera. So the only thing I am expecting are good songs, and Running is just fantastic (and Andras as well xlove)

I must say that out of the most likely winners this year, I would prefer Hungary to win. Always nice to have a new country win the contest. And we need a winner from central europe again.
Since any of my own favourites wont stand a chance this year - I would be fine with Hungary even though they are not in my top 10.

But basically yes,
Hungary would be the ideal winner because
1)It wouldn't be a block country (Eastern/Scandinavian/Balkan)
2)It wouldn't be a rich country like all previous years from 2008.
So, EBU could clear their image to the people.

ps A Hungarian victory could mean some come backs (Croatia,Slovakia etc)

Well since I first watched the video of Hungary's song "Running" on Saturday 8 March, I've posted a full in-depth report about how I got on in the Bath Half 2014 Family Fun Run on my blog, and continued talking to people I know about the 2014 Bath Half Marathon and Fun Run, and last weekend commented on the London Marathon on Facebook, and done background reading on running on a website. So running has been on my mind quite a bit lately, despite my not having done any since the Bath Fun Run on Sunday 2 March.

After all that, five days ago my Eurovision 2014 CD album arrived, and I've listed to it a few times this week. My latest verdict, based on listening to it on the CD, is this: I now quite like the song "Running" and it's certainly one of the better songs on the CD. It definitely deserves to qualify to the final (more so than Kedvesem last year), and deserves quite a high placing in the final, but I'm still not sure about it winning though.

I have to disagree there. The only thing he did better than Dilara was pronouncing his words correctly. I found the performance quite soulless. Kallay is from the generation of singers where it's all just about vocal acrobatics.. and as GRE mentioned earlier, he doesn't even have a particularly strong live voice. I find it quite weak and whiney. Technically he is very on point but I find his voice absolutely nothing special. At best he is boy band fodder.

He's 29, so why should he join a boyband?

He could join me instead... :)

He's a fine performer...I've seen a lot of them and he is very able vocally.....great intonation and pacing. Makes Carl Espen look like a real amateur.

Well, Carl IS an amateur in comparison to Andras but in general, too. The guy is a carpenter, not a singer. Andras, on the other hand, was raised in a musical family (his father is a singer) and has been singing for years.

On the other hand, Carl makes Andras look like a man that hasn't lived. Carl is raw and sings with such sincerity. He might be a somewhat rough diamond but that's a big part of why he is special. A lot of the most highly regarded songwriters were rough, unconventional singers but that didn't stop them from conveying their message and putting out achingly beautiful songs. Fragility can be beautiful and incredibly touching.

What Carl offers with his song vocally is sevenfold what Andras does. Andras may give us good intonation and pacing but I don't get much else from him. There is zero depth.

Well i have to disagree with you.
Carl has only soft & calm voice.
No emotions in his singing.Look at his expressions when he sings.-nothing-
If you have mute in your television,
you can not understand that this man is talking about pain in life.

Carl's words may be difficult to understand at times but I feel something from his voice even when the words aren't clear which is very important. His voice is soft and calm indeed but the moments when he breaks free, I find them just breathtaking. Under the gentle demeanour there is something more lurking. It's a release of a song in a somewhat similar way to what "Suus" was. Everything is up front and honest. Carl has a haunting, fragile voice.. the kind you just don't hear in popular mainstream music today because the majority of people only want vocal acrobatics and easy listening. Carl's voice and the song itself, everything convey's the message to me. He's like a Norwegian Perfume Genius.

And actually, Andras himself has a very soft voice. Part of the reason "Running" leaves me cold is because the lyrics are so blunt and in your face yet his voice comes across as very emotionless to me. Couple that with the drum and bass music and the whole thing feels very awkward. It feels forced.

I don't think we can compare Carl to Andras...different styles, different songs.
Personally, I love both songs and both singers (after all, they are my no1 and no2 this year) for different reasons each...I love them because they're both talented and because the songs are both 'real'...I can't stand fake emotions/lyrics...and these songs are both based on reality (Andras's friend and Carl's own life).
I would be very, very happy if they both did well in May. I'd rather Hungary won because they haven't won before and if Norway came second, it would be perfect for me

It's simple...Andras sings in tune and Carl doesn't.....no good having a very fine song like Silent Storm if he is vocally insecure.....he may be a nice guy, but he loses it, especially when he forces the volume. If he had a good vocal coach he'd use his diaphragm more to support his voice and stop it straying off key....
