Nope, it's a catchy Schlager song - one of the most popular genres in Germany.

You don't have to like it, though.
Ryk's entry might be getting tons of jury points (who knows, I don't think so, tbh) and it might be a well-crafted ballad (people seem to genuinely like it) but do people in Germany really listen to these musical-like falsetto ballads in English giving ghey twink vibes?
I think it's even more "ESC bubble"-ish and ESC-tailored than other entries in our NF.

Isaak's entry, at least, gives me TV talent show on RTL or Sat1 vibes.

"Katze" would be alright, too - if you want to go all mad and nuts at a Berlin lounge at 2 am sipping martinis?

Apart from these three entries, I don't think this NF is very "German", though - I think that we got a better representation and more diversity/variety last year .

+ We will definitely getting some Swedish or Norwegian or Danish songwriting camp reject from that "Ich will zum ESC" wildcard thingy after they pulled of their lip-syncing challenge and performing 90 seconds of well-known hits of the last 3 decades :D

It's not as bad as the :lu: NF but I'm missing the "aspects of German music market/culture" representation this year.
At least, very few songs tick these boxes (even though I know they aren't the best ones of their genres they try to represent).

The performances and the winner? Yeah, we will see that on Feb 16th :D if we really have to :D
but we survived :ie: and :lu: - so we should easily make it through

All performances were NQs.
The show itself was excellent and brilliantly executed. The competition entries were as competitive as the Irish songs.

....any news from the wildcard ?
New episode will be out in an hour, 0:00.
They will have to do choreo while lip synching, which could be kinda fun to watch, I guess. But probably still nothing about the song they would sing. And there are still too many contestants to tell, who will actually get the wildcard.

Looking at who is in it tho, we will likely get another ballad. Sophie seems to be a favourite so maybe they'll get a ballad but in german, so NDR can still claim there's diversity 🙃

Oooo lip syncing when the prize is to sing live at the contest.

Germany you are treating yourselves!

Yeah. We are always good for surprises! 😂

Well I saw all the 4 parts so far and I can't imagine one of them doing better than the finalists. Unless we have a Sister-moment. Then I am out. And will change my flag. To the country that have the best song this year - Slovenia so far. Or simply my second home country Japan. Many options to Germany. 💖

I think Ryk is overhyped here but I like this kind of music for my grindr date playlist. Katze is still my favorite!
I prefer Katze but Ryk is also a decent option.

Honestly though there isn't really anything in this selection making me that excited.

I actually get MELOVIN vibes from Ryk's voice which makes me like the entry a lot more than I would normally with that sort of entry

Just saw the interview with Ryk on ESC Kompakt. He will have neither a piano on stage nor dancers. The performance will be focused on him with lights and haze-effects and also on some surprises in relevant moments. Great interview. Can't wait! xheart

Ryk will release a live session video before the NF - and should he win, there will be an official video as well.

After the announcement of the semi-finalists in San Marino I really wonder for which country Ikke Hüftgold will go to Malmø… As he said he was sure to participate this year… Or did sth go wrong unexpectedly?!?:lol:

Ryk applied in the same year as Electric Callboy in 2022 and was rejected with this song:

Well, it simply wasn't radio-frinedly enough. ;)
