The verdict of the bloggers:
Benny - There's a lot to write about, I'm concentrating on ISAAK and his song. What gives me hope is that the team seems to be working really hard on the preparation for Malmö: Revamp, completely revised performance... The biggest asset is ISAAK's voice. “Always On The Run” itself is a good radio song, but too nondescript for the ESC.
Berenike - ISAAK has a great voice that comes into its own even better live. But the song is far too arbitrary and a bit old-fashioned, and the echo-like repetitions are almost unpleasantly repetitive. A lot of potential was wasted.
Douze Points - Classic, American pop-rock with a precisely predictable structure. That's probably why it works so well on the radio. It will be difficult on the ESC stage - even despite ISAAK's magnificent voice. I wouldn't specifically listen to the song outside of the ESC, but I wouldn't turn it off if it was playing somewhere.
Flo - The most striking thing about “Always On The Run” is certainly ISAAK's strong voice, which stands out especially in its strong intonation. And then there is the catchy but also repetitive chorus. Unfortunately, it's one of those cases where you're initially surprised because you're listening to ISAAK's voice, but then the plot is lost by the second verse at the latest. A good live production can help to get something out of the solid (but not particularly outstanding) foundation.
Manu - Of course, “Always On The Run” probably won’t win an innovation award. But the song is, in my opinion, much better than it is currently being advertised. Somewhere between James Newman 2020 and Lewis Capaldi, I hope for a harmonious production and that the likeable ISAAK doesn't overpitch his voice until the big performance. Then it should be enough for a few jury points and, depending on the start number, maybe even a few televoting points. But hopefully those responsible at NDR won't rest on their laurels after this little surprise success; There is a lot of work involved in dusting off the ESC in Germany too. Enjoy the ESC, ISAAK – this is your big moment! Hopeful

Max - It's a catchy song that particularly impresses with ISAAK's voice - no question about it! The problem is, as is so often the case with German entries, that I fear it will not encourage viewers across Europe to call for it. I hope for more from the jury.
Peter - The ESC magic word is distinction and that is also the defining edge of AOTR. The song is catchy, ISAAK is a hands-on guy with a catchy, self-confident conviction and has a mega voice. But the title is pleasing radio pop and threatens to get lost in the overall portfolio if a coherent, surprising and modern production does not create moments of remembrance. Pyro alone shouldn't be able to do this; ideas with charisma are needed. I am inspired by the Eurojury and give
Rick - “Always On The Run” was a super strong number for me right from the start. As a pure audio file on Spotify or on the radio, it's really great, both in terms of composition and ISAAK's voice. But if you evaluate the overall contribution from a competitive perspective, it's simply not special enough - especially not with the preselection performance. But I still believe that the potential is there and I really enjoy listening to the song.
