Let's see of the juries might save us from the last place due to his vocals. :D
As for the televoting: Guess it won't be more than the usual 2-4 points from Switzerland and Austria + a random point from somewhere else.

I actually like this? Don’t know why everyone is hating on it but his voice is so good and the song is something I would totally listen to in my everyday life as background music (which I did multiple times by now). 10 points.

It is alright. I like the vocals. I wish the melody was more memorable. I am afraid that it may easily be ignored by both the televoters and the jury but I do hope the live performance will be convincing.

You perfectly described the problem of the song. :ROFLMAO:

Wether this is a problem or not will show in the GF. Of course the bubble tries to talk songs like these down. Radio-friendly (as if that’s an insult), too generic, forgettable.

But you must not forget there is a much larger audience at the day of the final. Isaak‘s voice is very distinctive and everyone will remember him as the Rag'n bone-Lewis Capaldi-man with real emotions and authenticity. He‘s the normal guy next door, many will relate to him and the lyrics. It may stand out more than other songs.

I haven’t seen his rehearsal (has it been posted yet?) but depending on it I may even upgrade to 12 points if he is able to deliver the emotions live.

And this could totally be on the British radio channels or even USA.

Ok, you absolutely didn´t understand anything. ESC is not about finding the the next Radio hit!! Take "Rockstars", our entry from 2022 as an example. It was a perfectly radio friendly title. Where did it end up?? Exactly!!

I am so ready for three minutes of nothing happening on stage. :ROFLMAO:

it's the opposite! According to ESC kompakt he's in a living room that then starts to burn down (?!). There are other people with him on stage! And Isaak is actually wearing non-Isaak clothing!

Why so aggressive?

I know Germans tend to hate their own song but I was just stating that the casual viewer outside the bubble may like this because it could remind them of popular popstars like Rag n bone man or Lewis Capaldi.

Being mainstream music does not mean it’s bad music. Why did Måns Zelmerlöw win in 2015? Because it was basic David Guetta radio pop.

Your comparison with Malik doesn’t work for me. No country would play that on their radio but Germany. While Isaak could be streamed on any British or American radio channel and nobody would be surprised.

Well, he won because juries were impressed by the graphics in the background while he was actually only third in the televote.

Oookay, sure!

By that logic a ton of other songs would have won as well. But do what you Germans do best: complaining about your own song.

In the meanwhile I‘m enjoying Isaak‘s rehearsal snippet which looks awesome. A tad too tame maybe but he may save something for the finals.

I had to look for photos after I saw this comment, because before I saw only this clip and was "is staging in room with us?"

Btw. Germany is in my top 10 this year :sneaky:
Every piece of staging is a step in the right direction for us hahaha.

Let's say it like this: the staging looks more promising than I expected. With some effort in here Isaak likely really will get some jury points (mostly thanks to his incredible voice). Probably still bottom 5, but not last.

But your staging wasn't bad last year. xshrug

A year before that on the other hand...
That was the worst thing ever. Although I think it has more to do with Malik himself than NDR, trying to be authentic and all that... With his 1 million instruments xexcuseme

I am not sure what I should think about that staging. At the moment I am not excited.
