Germans hate their own Song.

Self-depracating people. Only thing Germans hate more than themselves are Austrians and Polish people.

I can understand the disappointment for Lily... but Aly, why? To me the performance was a mixed Sweden 2017+2018, an overproduced song that don't reach hearts in any way. It's just an eye pleasure, Eurovision is not only that.

Thanks, I was wondering what was missing in Alys performance and song. You're absolutely right in every point. You will not win without emotion. The whole song is good, but it lacks emotions. All the past winner were full of emotions. And: Sisters got a lot emotions too. Therefore it won.

I'm not so sure, we will see..this composition is brilliant!
It's not a surprise that ESC fans can't recognize it!
Professional jury in ESC will! ;)

Sisters slay me! xheat

We are in the same club again! Like this entry a lot, probably my most favorite so far! :D Would have prefered Lilly, but today I had listened to the Sisters so mcuh and I started to love it …

I had a feeling they would win. It's like the classic German NF choice that practically no one wants but it somehow happens. The UK has the same problem but then the difference being that Germany usually puts out some great selections containing songs beaming with potential to do well at the contest.

I don't mind this song. I'm not crazy for it though. I found their reaction to winning (especially the blonde girl) cute, and they seem very genuine. The song just gives off vibes of your less successful NF picks of the past. I've got a bad feeling this will likely struggle, even with the giant twirling square. It's very middle of the road. The only point of interest for me is the music box which I find a charming touch (though done much better last year with Ivy's song).

I'll give it a kind 5 points for now. I wasn't expecting you to pick Makeda tonight, so I'm not disappointed (got my hopes up a little during the voting I do confess). I think though you made a mistake by not opting for Aly. Makeda even had the potential to be an extremely strong jury magnet at Eurovision. I don't know exactly what the international jury were on tonight. It was very strange. I feel bad for the disappointed German fans. I know the feeling all too well.

So that means Laurell Barker now has TWO songs in ESC this year, as she co-wrote both the German and UK entries

Lilly should have won I feel. Aly's vocals were awful, and Makeda's song just didn't connect. Sisters is OK. Better choices, worse choices, as usual this season the fans are losing their minds with every NF result. You would think by now people would get better at dealing with the disappointment.

4 points.

Honestly think the same, especially considering that it was obvious NDR wanted them…

I dont want to shade them, because I could see the song grow on me, but something stinks here. They girls CAN sing, yeah, but Carlotta wasn't strong tonight. And how on earth can Eurovision fans vote so different to what the audience votes? Weird.

Sisters wont be the worst to be heard in Tel Aviv.

I am definitely not loving the song though. I can understand the disappointment of many. I heard the german selection for the first time now this evening. I was not impressed by the vocals and the overall presentation of neither Lilly nor Aly. My favourite after one hearing was Lilly though. And I am sure that's the one song I will like the most in the studio version. But after judging from only one listening to the live presentations - I am not that surprised that Sisters won.

Germans hate their own Song.

ist ganz furchtbar (28%, 55 Votes)
ist solala (25%, 50 Votes)
gefällt mir gut (25%, 49 Votes)
gefällt mir weniger (15%, 30 Votes)
ist ganz ausgezeichnet (7%, 13 Votes)

This is because Aly was overhyped by esc-kompakt and wiwibloggs. Aly was the classic fan favorite fail.

The song isn't very bad but I really would have prefered Aly. I still can't believe she got only 6 pts from the teleovoting.

By the way this was actually last on the bookies' list. It had only 2% chance of winning!

The song is kinda cute actually. And got meme potential with that SISTAH part.

I will give 6pts.. my fav entry of ours since 2013 for sure but that doesn't say much

This song could place similar to the Czech song 2016, "I stand" from Gabriela Gunčíková:

Getting some point from the juries, but then (almost) no points from the televoters. And a bottom 5 result.
Although the song is not too bad, I would have prefered almost all other songs for ESC. It will probably not become last, with help of the juries it could be above place 20, but not too much more.

Why? I mean...whhhyyy? :?
We had Aly...we had Lilly...we had Makeda. But...why? xshock1

I don't get it...it's like Ralph Siegel is back in Germany...but not in a good way. A mediocre song, which would be very successful in the 90s & 00s...but nowadays?! :?
(but he's still a legend xheart)

Santiano, Madeline Juno, Fahrenhaidt (Frozen Silence xlove - I still love the song), Aly & Lilly...why everytime my favorites xcry1

Because fans reading blogs and overhyped fansites...and they vote like that.

I'm watching performance again (not the winning one), but I agree with Rainy that reaction of the blonde one was genuine and cute in the winning performance..and I like this more than Italy and Slovenia now , still not sure but I think I do...

I actually now like that one sister is worse vocally, one is very good, cause it gives me some “sisters” vibes..this concept is fantastic..

It's the NDR/ARD after all, they want the safe choice!

The song just gives off vibes of your less successful NF picks of the past. I've got a bad feeling this will likely struggle
Don't you worry, we're used to that last spot in the final. Just when I thought Schreiber learnt his lesson, we're literally back where we used to (in 2017). He got his will and to me and many other Germans, this is such a wasted year with several better songs T() xdown

Every National Final has its Kate Ryan. Only a few Kate Ryans actually make it to Eurovision.

BS, Austrians and Polishs are our Friends and Neighbours. Zoe even won our Poll and Cesar was somewhere around 6th-7th.

You know I have to calm down here a bit. And I have to get used to the fact that this year all NFs are trolling me. Cannot wait for tomorrow urgh

Well, my biggest problem is that we had international potential with Aly and Linus, both songs wouldve worked brilliantly on the radio whereas most of the songs in todays NF sounded like they were sung in a musical. S!sters as well. Its not a bad song, but the staging was AWFUL and we could have sent somebody who is literally up there with Dua Lipa and we didnt. Its not overhype, its simply modern music and potential. More than a thousand people cannot be wrong after all? The international juries ALWAYS go for voices. Its a SONG contest, but they will NEVER understand. Its not "The Voice of The World" its a SONG contest. I am just imagining Dua Lipa taking part in a NF like this, she would miserably fail even if having great hits or Katy Perry and stuff. Its just awful. I dont know, its just frustrating.
