I am a little confused by BB Thomaz song. The break of verse to chorus is a little weird to be honest. I love the verse and the chorus, but not put together somehow.

Re: GERMANY 2019

Maybe BB Thomaz can still work on that ...
What about Aly's song? Can you compare it to any song you know? How does it sound?

Re: GERMANY 2019

So I listened to all five songs available so far. Definitely a better line-up than last year, not as bland, but still very pop-ish and radio friendly.

My Top 5 so far:
1. Aly Ryan: What a banger! Its different, its not Fuego, but its something completely knew and I see the Svetlana vibes. I love this song already, if Germany wants to take a risk and go a new path, this is it! She could do REALLY well with this!
2. Makeda: Touching ballad, definitely one of the better ballads that we could see at Eurovision, but I dont think she'd stand a chance with this song. She is a great singer nonetheless and I would download this.
3. Linus Bruhn: Justin Bieber? Is that you? Its a nice modern pop song but just nice and radio friendly. Sounds very mainstream and the lyrics are well .. cheesy. I could see this winning though.
4. Gregor Hägele: Good voice but I see myself getting lost while listening to this. Its just a bit boring somehow. But he is talented for sure.
5. BB Thomaz: Queen influence to the max, but the misconnected verse and chorus annoy me. Its like she put two songs together that seriously dont fit at all. The verses are soooo mysterious and atmospheric, and then the refrain seems to wrong.

Aly sounds good … and from your and other descriptions I also like BB Thomaz because of the Queen influence … but Maybe it sounds not so good as you wrote … I will have to wait for tomorrow evening to make a picture myself ...

Re: GERMANY 2019

Germany are way too earnest for their own good, they vote for 'classiness' in their NFs and wrongfully assume the rest of Europe shares the same values.
Wrong, last year VoxxClub got 10 points from the Televoting, because people wanted to "bring a party" to the ESC. Saying that Germans still don't know, how the ESC works isn't true. If you just don't have much to work with, you're choosing what you're expecting to work the best.

Internal selections for other countries have resulted in so many great songs over the past years (Rise like a phoenix, City Lights, Fuego, Sound of Silence, J'ai cherché, If Love was a Crime, LoveWave, etc)
They can work, but it's not much of a sure thing, as well. Looking at The Netherlands, our neighbors weren't that happy about sending country songs year after year. I'm looking at Austria 2017, which was rather disliked by the public or Belgium 2018 which was a beautiful mess...

German Public selections have resulted in three consequetive bottom 2 spots in the past four years.
Sorry, but those spots weren't the voters fault. After the shows, a lot of people were protesting/hating on those awful stages and what our delegation thought when putting them together. Looking back, those last places were a good thing. Schreiber and the the rest of our delegation learnt a lesson and now we're getting a NF with better stagings than some of our entries.... ;)

Last, but not least, I'm expecting nothing more than Lilly or Aly to win this NF (and I have been feeling this way, since I learnt about them). If the Fangirls go crazy and send 12 Points to Linus. We still have 2 more Juries who will choose the right person. And I'm very confident, we're going to send the right lady! :p
As soon as someone else wins, you're free to criticize our NF, because than I'm done with the (German) ESC anyway

Re: GERMANY 2019

Don't get the Aly Ryan hype. A medicore song with dull lyrics...this will never win the NF
But BB Thomaz is a banger #hype #ftw

Thanks for the links. xrose
Aly and BB Thomas sound very promising and now I'm even more excited for tomorrow :mrgreen:
Gregor's song's nice, but nothing for the ESC...

Edit: I tried 3 different browsers, but still can't listen to Makeda's preview. Very weird...
