exactly what I thought when I read "most daring song"
after so many years leaving great songs in your NFs I don't know what to expect, hopefully this year I can be happy with the outcome

Germany is one of those countries that really should just do internal selections each year because the German voting public just doesn't *understand* Eurovision. In fact, the one internal selection from Germany, 'Taken By A Stranger', was spat out by the Germans before the contest, so clearly they are do not know what's good for them :-/
Germany are way too earnest for their own good, they vote for 'classiness' in their NFs and wrongfully assume the rest of Europe shares the same values. (cf: Eurovision.de thinking that WiWibloggs on the Romanian jury could have destroyed the integrity of Eurovision, which lmao, what integrity? Remember when 'Kismet' won and Bulgaria simply invented a copyright claim so they could send 'Samo Shampioni' instead? or when Lukashenko personally DQ'd Aliona Lanskaya?)
Germany doesn't do bangers (and when they do them, they mostly suck. Six years have passed and I still cannot stand more than three seconds of Glorious.)

But as far what they wrote yesterday there are so many ballads among the participants … and I really would love to see an uptempo song again … unless the ballad is a REALLY stunning one … I am Always Ready for "bold" and "daring" and for a darker song like Lilly's.

Germany cant have internal Selection because the Fan and Media Protests would have been too big. We are not Austria or Netherlands, where the Public is ok with "De-Democratization". Also our last 100% internal Selection was 2009 and we all know how embarassing that was.

Utterly ridiculous. Not your post, but the entire mindset that's like "WE NEED A VOTE TO DECIDE EVERYTHING IT'S NOT KOSHER IF WE DO IT OTHERWISE", because Good grief get your heads out of your asses, Germany. Internal selections for other countries have resulted in so many great songs over the past years (Rise like a phoenix, City Lights, Fuego, Sound of Silence, J'ai cherché, If Love was a Crime, LoveWave, etc) German Public selections have resulted in three consequetive bottom 2 spots in the past four years. You lucked out with Michael in that he had a song that was somehow appealing to both the German public tastes AND Europe's as well. There's no guarantee the same thing will happen this year.
I understand the need to have some agency in the decision, but ARD has been effing that up lately (most notably in 2017. Helene Nissen - 'Wildfire' was right there). Select the artist if you must, but songs are imo better left to internal selections.

Lets all just rate how good a NF is for us after we heard the songs of tomorrow. I mean, having a NF to me also means excitement. Internal selections are great but since we have lots of newcomers in our shows it raises their ability to have atleast a bit of success here in Germany. And we've had better songs that what we've sent in our NFs. I wished we would increase the amount of participants to 10 or 12 and do it a bit bigger like Denmark or so, but all in all, I think it all depends on how much NDR supports the act and how professional they are. I mean, I dont want to sound arrogant, I sometimes feel like me as graduated journalist and media-pro could make better decisions than the NDR did last years. Like with Levina, EVERYONE knew it would fail, what did they do? They made the stage worse. A bland song got worse due to a monotone stage design. Or with Jamie-Lee - the atmosphere on stage was important. What did they do? OH! LETS STILL HAVE THOSE GREEN LIGHTS EVERYONE MAKES FUN OF! I personally think, its a lot about whats to come AFTER the show and what NDR does best is to let their chosen Eurovision-acts not decide what they want and to let them fall the moment they fail.
I have faith, and nobody can stop me.

Ther german Media dont know about other Countries.
Btw. if the TV-Favourite wont win tomorrow there will be a bigger Scandal than in Romania.
Even 2013 the Media spread the wrong fact that Cascada won because of the Juries while the Televoter wanted LBB although it was exactly the other way round.
