They were until ZDF got the rights for broadcasting the Champions League.
So since this season, only ARD broadcasts the matches of the DFB-Pokal. Ok, they could sell it to ZDF, but I don´t think, they will, because that would mean that ESC will be watched by less viewers.

I guess that they will show the cup on friday. The ARD bosses are wetting their pants with two top rating events on one weekend (plus some extra-cheers for the Tatort on sunday).

No, they won't (and can't) air it on Friday. ARD secured the rights to show the DFB Pokal on Free-TV, but Sky got the rights to air in on Pay-TV. Therefore ARD can't easily move the DFB Pokal final to a Friday as they also have to ask Sky. I doubt that Sky would agree. In addition the DFB Pokal is far more popular than Eurovision. Last year's DFB Pokal was watched by about 14 millon viewers whereas Eurovision was only watched by about 8 million people. Considering that two events will air simulatenously, next year's Eurovision is supposed to have the worst viewing figures ever xshrug

The DFB Pokal will be delayed for sure. We already had the exact same situation in... 2011 or 2012, I don't know anymore and at the end, they decided to go for another date for the DFB Pokal final.

I guess it was 2011 as Germany hosted Eurovision, but it hadn't been the DFB Pokal that was moved to another date but the Eurovision final!

Or Thomas Schreiber will "convince" the EBU to have the final one week earlier. Norway would agree, I guess.

Ahh, thanks I didn't know that :D

Yes, they could do it 2011 because there weren't other dates to be kept in mind... but next year will be more difficult as we will have the world cup in June, so all national and international tournaments have to be finished by the end of May (maybe even earlier). So the Champions League final will be on May 24th and the Bundesliga normally finishes one or two weeks before.

I guess all EBU countries have to come together to find a more suitable date. There's the Champion's League final in the same month and later on there's the World Cup. Another possibility would be the airing of Eurovision and DFB Pokal simultaneously. DFB Pokal would be aired in ARD and Eurovision in some smaller ARD-subchannel like NDR. Unlikely, but possible considering the time constraint in May 2014.

ARD/NDR would never (!!!) broadcast their most successful (both rating- and media-wise) entertainment programm simultaneously to one of their most successful sport events. Mostly they behave stupid, but not that (!!!) much.

If there's no option they will have to. I hope that EBU will find another date but as the DFB final won't be reallocated, it will be hard.

Mhmm, I think that they'll just switch between the days: Eurovision on saturday, football on friday or sunday.

As I said, ARD bought the rights to air the DFB Pokal. Therefore they don't have a say in the dates so they would have to ask our football association and they certainly will not reallocate the DFB Pokal because of Eurovision. It wasn't even possible to move the 2011 DFB Pokal to another date although we were hosting Eurovision that year. EBU has to move the grand final because that's the only solution.

Ben Ivory finally released his album. Single Disconnected released in July.
Reviewed in Sweden. I guess he will not come back for Eurovision any time soon. :D

Ben Ivory - Disconnected (Neon Cathedral, 2013)

Songs and production are pretty good but I'm not at all fond of the rather cheesy choruses he seem to like (e.g. New Bright Lights)
