As soon as Stefan Raab hadn't been involved anymore our entry flopped hard. Next year we have to send total newcomers as established stars probably won't like to enter the contest anymore. Maybe the NDR will change the selection procedure once again to make sure that the best song wins. Cascada wasn't disastrous but in the whole national selection not one song was outstanding :?

No please.... no Stefan Raab and NO CASTING SHOW!
Actually this is the first time ever that I would prefer a german withdrawel (I guess I will change my mind until tomorrow)
To be honest I am very pissed about cascadas result but I hold myself back a bit :D

Yes, the casting shows were plain boring and the songs mostly bland but one has to admit that in the end Stefan Raab and these shows were successful and that's what counts. If Europe likes bland ballad's from American or British composers they can have that every year. It works for Azerbaijan as well.

True, but we didn't have a lot friends last year either although we ended up in 8th place. These casting show winner's at least don't have anything to lose because they will be forgotten after one or two years either way.

I think they should use Bundesvision as the NF

I always thought they should and I still don't understand it never was used as their NF system... I mean hello, it's meant for it to be!!!

No it's not. The contest was designed by Stefan Raab to promote total newcomers by mixing them up with German stars. Through this publicity the newcomers get a huge boost in sales and will most likely return in the next years to return the favor to other newcomers. The voting itself is ridiculous as you know beforehand that the most famous star will win so there's no reason to vote anyway. If it was a national selection for the ESC the big stars would most likely not participate in the contest anymore and nobody would watch it. That's the whole problem!

Better trying something different or more genuine next time. NDR got their victory and a run of good results in the last couple of years so it should not be a big problem if it did not get high anyway. After all they'll still be pre-qualified for the final and in fact many of their pseudo-safe/anglo-choices turned out as failures as well (2005-2009, 2013).

I like the idea choosing the entry from Bundesvision song contest, but not necessarily the winner song (because in most cases it's not the best song but the most famous singer)
Look how Italy decide its entry... They always take it from San Remo, but as far as I know it's not always the winner song. They prefer to chose the song which seems to be the most appropriate for ESC. And they are successful.
