'Glorious' is a German product, the writers are from Germany.

Well, true. I'm not gonna deny this (although whether it "sounds" German is a different discussion). However, looking at the majority of the past 5 years or so, the German input has been limited to say the least.

Another fear of mine I have already expressed several times is that NDR would most probably insist on a pseudo 'competitive' entry different from her typical stuff. Which would be either a neutral ballad (if lucky) or some Europop sillyness in the style of Kate Ryan, C. Perrelli etc. No, I definitely would not be happy the day I hear she was selected.

Well, those are just hypothetical fears... however I could still see her with a German-language ballad though :)

Knowing their mindset (didn't you say it yourself) certainly not.
A nice ballad could be sung by sung anyone, we do not need a top star for that. Also Helene would prefer to sing an uptempo number as she liketh to pull off big shows.

But the thing is, knowing their mindset the whole scenario of Helene being picked is hypothetical in itself, so it's not as if it would happen probably... so if it would, then I guess they would have changed their mind alot.

Yeah, a ballad would be sorta wasting, although I do like her ballads :)

^ I understand. Considering how huge she actually is though I do not think they'd be dogmatic enough to decline the offer as long as she agreed on singing a 'suitable' song. This is why I shall keep my fingers xcrossed against that idea. It is not likely to happen anyway. ;)

Writers of "Glorious" are not from Germany at all, just check better, they are from The Netherlands, they write almost all Cascada's songs! ;)

Actually, Matt is right, atleast two of the credited names on that song are German (however not sure about the other two, one them have like a Danish/Norwegian surname).

Yan Pfeifer and Manuel Reuter who wrote and produced the song are both Germans.

It's not me who should check better.

The most important is Dutch guy Tony Cornelissen, he is the main for all Cascada's songs..and Manian, he is German, that's true!

I know I've been hard on Azerbaijan (probably because they've been more obvious about this), but of course I think it's an issue in general. I don't think any country should "get away" with it, especially not if they've made a system of it like Azerbaijan and Germany did. I think the whole idea and concept of ESC gets lost if countries aren't sending home-grown products, then entries are just representing them "on paper" but not actual.

The difference between :de: and :az: obviously is that the former hath a great tradition in the contest holding the record for the most participations amongst other things and before 2008 had barely ever, if at all, been reliant on foreign-penned stuff. In fact, the vast majority of their entries were in German also a good amount of them have remained classics up until this day. :az:, on the other hand, hath absolutely nothing own contributed to the contest yet other than an underwhelming début in English in addition to an insane sum of money spent on Swedish (lately Greek, possibly less insane) imports and vote rigging.

Of course! And Azerbaijan is in a league of its own (plus they have the whole rigging and thing going on aswell, however I didn't refer to that in my comment). Germany having a long history obviously makes a big difference, I was solely criticizing Germany for the past decade or so.

How do you know? If the song doesn't appeal to the viewers (or the jury - or both), they won't. And first of all NDR has to accept them as participants at Unser Song für Dänemark ;)
