Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011 - Lena

It's a Raab song, what do you expect. He's not the best composer ;)
The only really good (and serious) song he has come up with so far is our 2004 entry, which deserved much better than coming 8th.

The best song on Lena's album are the ones not composed by him. Ellie Golding composed a song for Lena ("Not Following"), it's the best song on the whole album apart from Satellite. And "Bee" is very good too, obviously.

By the way, we have some nice participants for this year's "Bundesvision Song Contest" (our yearly national song contest, created by Raab - of course :D - and first held in 2005, in which all the German federal states compete against each other) which is going to be in November this year: Ich + ich for Berlin, Stanfour for Schleswig-Holstein, Selig for Hamburg, Blumentopf for Bavaria, Unheilig for Nordrhein-Westfalen, and many others.. if you know German music you may have come across one of these names :)

You were a Lena hater before the ESC and you still are a Lena hater now. Thus, your comment is not even worth reading. And everybody on this forum knows it.

Oh and Romania came only 6th (in the televoting, which is the REAL result) so you shouldn't be too proud of your country. They were pushed by the juries, for reasons that nobody will ever know. (Well, Lena won the jury voting by just 2 points.. this alone proves that the juries were jerks this year because she was hands down FAR better than anyone else)

How where -tr and -ro robbed this year? That's just your opinion. I didn't like ,,Satellite" but I wasn't found of our song either. If she wants to take part again I think we should wait for the song and then comment!

Yes.
i think it would be more chances for success if they send someone else.
as winner you only can loose at a new contest, because all except a win would be a loose.

I think Lena's going to do really good, top 5 without a doubt! I'm hoping for some kind of sequel to Satellite, that would be cool :p

No no no, never call a song or an artist "bad". It's all about personal taste, nothing else. The quality of Lena's album is very high, and then you get to choose your favorites and your least favorites, but never call a song "bad" just because you don't like it.

Yesterday, Lena live at Stockholm Pride:

Just look at how greatly they're all singing along! Lena puts the mic away but the crowd is still singing as loud as Lena herself :D

That could be true, but it wouldn't look as fresh as it was this year. I think she stands better chances if the song is different style than "Satellite".

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011 - Lena

The 2010 Eurovision Song Contest turned into an unforgettable event for winner Lena Meyer-Landrut. And she felt so much at home in the warm atmosphere that she decided to come back in 2011. Not for winning again, just for the sheer fun of it.

When 19-year-old Lena Meyer-Landrut reunites with Eurovision.tv to reflect on her experience in May, she's filled with warm memories. It's not to be doubted that she had fun bringing Germany its first victory since 1982.

"I remember it as a big party. It was much work, but most of it was so fun and cool. I also felt really familiar and comfortable there, it felt so home. It was an intensive time that I will never forget, really awesome," Lena recollects.

In it for the fun
She even loved it so much that she accepted to do it again next year. The decision was easy for Lena. The only objections came from people on the outside with no first-hand experience of the contest.

"I actually just said that I wanted to do it. The discussion was with others, so many people said that it was a very bad idea, claiming that I can only lose and that it's so much pressure. And we just said, 'yes, but we want to do it.' It was so much fun, we brought this to our home country, and we just want to experience it again," she tells.

"More relaxing"
Some participants enter the contest with winning as the sole aim. With that approach, even a top 10 position can be experienced as a defeat. That line of thinking is far from Lena's character.

"We didn't enter this year with the approach that we had to win. Next year will be more relaxing, I'll be able to enjoy the whole competition," she says.

Do you expect not to win?

"Haha, I do expect that I won't win, yes. I guess I can't win again. That's not the point. But I'm lucky not having to go through the Semi-Finals, so we'll see!"

Even if Lena is entering the contest for the great fun of it, she does admit to have a sense for competition.

"I'm the kind of person that does best if it's a competition, where you can lose or win. I'm not saying that all the other concerts I'm doing are less good, but I do have a feeling that I concentrate a bit more if it's competition."

Re: DEUTSCHLAND - Germany 2011 - Lena

Oh no no...what are they thinking of? For the sake of music it is incredibly hopeless to send the same artist two years in a row and I simply don't see the logic in this. Imagine if every country did like Germany and decided to send the same artist for 2011. People tend to forget one major thing. ESC is not only a competition, it is also a place to promote new artists from different countries. Don't get me wrong, Lena did brilliant in Oslo and deserved the victory more than anyone but she is always a considerably big name in most of Europe already. I know a saying goes "never change a winning team" but this is just stupid. I had hoped that the Germans would be more innovative but I was wrong.

I'm sorry to say it but Lena 2011 is destined to fail.

PS. What now about the opening act?
