Oh no no...what are they thinking of? For the sake of music it is incredibly hopeless to send the same artist two years in a row and I simply don't see the logic in this. Imagine if every country did like Germany and decided to send the same artist for 2011. People tend to forget one major thing. ESC is not only a competition, it is also a place to promote new artists from different countries. Don't get me wrong, Lena did brilliant in Oslo and deserved the victory more than anyone but she is always a considerably big name in most of Europe already. I know a saying goes "never change a winning team" but this is just stupid. I had hoped that the Germans would be more innovative but I was wrong.

I'm sorry to say it but Lena 2011 is destined to fail.

PS. What now about the opening act?

I'd rather saw someone new instead of performer who has already participated less than 1 year ago.

Jeez, so they're still considering recycling Lena? I haven't been up to date with ESC news since ... well, last ESC and then I thought this was just a contemporary side effect of the winning euphory and now I can't believe they've stuck with it. I liked her a lot last year but I really lope they will change their mind about this. I want to see something new from Germany and this makes me think they don't think they're capable of delivering something cool and fresh every year.

There will be 3 shows, again done by Pro7 & ARD. All of these shows are going to be Lena shows, which means that no other artist is going to present any of the songs in question.

- February 1st, Pro7: Preliminary Round #1 - 6 songs will be presented by Lena, 3 of them are going to the final
- February 8th, Pro7: Preliminary Round #2 - 6 songs will be presented by Lena, 3 of them are going to the final
- February 18th, ARD: Final - the 6 qualified songs are again performed by Lena, one of them will be chosen as the German entry for the 2011 contest

So, there will be 12 songs. Without any composer/songwriter restrictions, I guess, just like in 2010.
I'm sure at least one of them will be a hit.

Guy Chambers (Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Katie Melua) will write one of Lena's songs for the GErman national final!
Stefan Raab will also write 2!

I'm against the idea of Lena going again... but atleast I hope for a song in German (afterall the contest will be held in Germany).

Contrary to what many people think I actually like the German language and I think it fits well in music.

But knowing Germany in ESC, I doubt we'll get a German song.

I hadn't even thought about the language until now... Yeah, it'd be nice for a German song this time, as it is in Germnay and singing in the same boring language for the second year in a row... Though didn't her weird English earn her some fans, too?

Even if she could, why should she do it? Imo, it's great the way it is, and this is just a part of what makes Lena so unique

I wonder whether there'll be any German songs among the 12.

Though in a way, if there were any, they might enjoy an advantage among voters quite independent of the actual merits of the song.

IMO, it's high time that Germany submits another German-language entry. German is a great language to sing in. One need only consider the immense German classical repertoire out there.

Now, I'd never vote for a non-English song over an English one merely for that fact. But what I rather deplore, is that so many countries go English by default. Sure, it's the international lingua franca, but we lose so much of the diversity which made the ESC so fun in the past. When after all does one get a chance to hear Icelandic or Latvian?

My guess is that Lena's more comfortable with singing in English. It kinda underscores her quirky image and moves her closer to her British idols.

Lena should be better at stage performance, she was excited and sang bad on the stage last year, but she won with her great song record.

If I was Lena, I would choose a song in the style of "Glow" (ESC 2010 interval act song)
