WOW! :ge: really came out of nowhere and now is a more probable qualifier compared to :pt:, one of the pre-rehearsal contenders for the win.
That's why I love Eurovision. The moment you think you figured it out, you realize that you know nothing.

Very delighted to see people jumping aboard the good ship Oto. From the beginning I thought he was immensely good, so I was kind of down watching the fan reaction to this entry.

I don’t think it’s even bias talking when I say Georgia have had the most impressive rehearsal so far. It looks phenomenal and Oto’s vocals (as usual) are next level. I’m so pleased they got the staging down. At this point it will be a robbery if he doesn’t make it. There have been so many letdowns with a lot of limp stuff in this semi in particular. This has gotta sail throughxcrossed

Trying not to spoil myself on too many rehearsals but it's hard to stay away from this one after hearing all the good comments come in for a song I like. Patience, Zobo. Patience.

If it all comes together as nicely as people are saying it does, I'm hoping to throw Oto some points from Australia in the semi xheat

Mmkay. So I didn't even make it four hours after that last post before giving in and watching the snippet. So much for that patience.

On to the more important topic though: my god that is some fantastic staging. Better than I could've imagined. And of course Oto has perfect stage presence and vocals as always. Pretty sure he'll be getting my vote now. Could he actually qualify? xpray

Tumblr, mostly.
Okay time for a bit of Devil's Advocate because I'm not certain Georgia are that safe. Sul Tsin Iare's main flaw is that it's all foreplay to a very, very brief climax. The way they handle the climax in the snippet is excellent and it ends on a high note, but what about the 2'30'' that precede it? Building up drama is like walking a tightrope; the tension has to be there for the entire ride, if not it will just fall flat and flop.

I'm not saying that what we're seeing is bad. The snippet is quite good, impressive even. But we're also seeing the best part of a song nearly everyone considered dead on arrival. We're not getting the full picture and the full picture might not be as good.

I also find it hard to buy that ALL of Serbia, Georgia and Hungary - the three ethnoballads in the semi - would go through to the finale. Two, given the rehearsals, seems more than feasable, but all three? I find that hard to believe. They draw too much support from the same votebases for that to work. Something's gotta give...

Georgia seems to be prone to make non-mainstream choices that end up being unpopular among the fans. I have enjoyed some of their previous entries that are included in this vaguely defined category. This year is no exception. I think Georgia made an interesting choice again. 7 points from me.

Hmm...Your alst point, yes. Even though it happesn to be the case that all three 'etnoballads' are simply among the ebst acts this semifinal. Of all three, the staging is pretty fenomenal and if I ahd to choose, I would say Hungary doesn't qualify (it's the least impressive to me) but as Hungary is more popular country than Georgia, I am curious....Serbia will probably qualify though. Nevena is amazing.

I think I was impressed by him when I saw his performance at the Spain's preparty. This song in its studio form is basically unlistenable. But listening/watching him perform 'live' you will be overwhelmed. So now with a great staging to elevate the song, I wouldn't be surprised this will be a shock qualifier.

Look at all thse gems lost...LOOK at it...

And poor random backing vocal. He participated alst year with Iriao, got last place, now he is a backing vocal, they don't qualify either.

I guess Oto was just too good for ESC. Hell. I am still shocked that Estonia qualified and Oto didn't.

This was robbed so hard. For me it was the best performance of the night and I've always found the song to be ferociously good. It was really hard to see it miss. I started to get a lot of hope after watching the rehearsals and seeing people finally saying "hey... this is actually good". I guess there's a risk when you go for something that's so dark and hard. Still, I'm really disappointed. It has soured my night quite a bit as I think Oto deserved that final more than anyone tonight. He was incredible and there won't be a bigger loss this year for me. Confession: during the results I was actually hoping for Georgia's name to come up more than San Marino.
