Re: FYR MACEDONIA 2014 - Tijana Dapčević - Pobeda

Hearing examples of Tijana's uptempo stuff, I must say it's not looking promising at all. I'd love for something ethno-influenced then, but all I heard so far is pointing at a "Albania 2010" direction (but maybe worse). Then I would much rather prefer a balkanic ballad in the style of the song posted above. But I'm gonna stay optimistic and hope for a Marija Magdalena of the 10's - type of entry. She has the vocals and passion to pull that off convincingly, but does she have the will though?

Albania 2010 was epicxslap

One of the best things about Juliana was her personality and charm when performing. Tijana doesn't really give off any warm vibes.. if that makes sense at all to anyone? I'm willing to be pleasantly surprised by Tijana though;)

Epic? It was a simple dated Pop song? It all came across as if a middle-aged version of Shady Lady

I don't really care about personalities, the songs are what's important here. Sure, a charismatic act can either make or break an entry as far as performance goes, but still it can't really change whether a song is good or bad.

I agree her past uptempo songs aren't very promising, but everything isn't horrible. For example her last uptempo song from 2013 is pretty decent isn't it?

Btw: I would be more than satisfied if it's as catchy as Albania 2010. :D

I thought the song was great though. I think Juliana and her song had one of the greatest Eurovision transformations ever. I thought the difference from Fik to Eurovision was amazing and everything was just so polished and infectious.

And actually, thanking about it.. I believe personality is very important at Eurovision. It comes across on stage when you perform.

^ Far from bad. Is the Grand Prix entry supposed 2b in this style?
Tijana said it's gonna be a full of energy performance (likely a dance-pop style).

She also said that the entry will be presented on January 15th.

Oh thanks. However, I fear the chances for an ethnic-inspired entry are indeed slim. Wasn't there someone on this forum who said he hath already listened to it?

I agree with everything, i love All about you, especially the video.
Personality and charisma are extremely important. To me it's:
1. Song
2. Charisma
3. Vocals
4. Clothing
5. Staging
If any of these is bad, it can ruin the whole thing. but if one of the first two is bad it will ruin the whole thing 100%.
How many times we've seen singers with zero charisma and personality ruining great songs? Horehronie, anyone? :)

P.S: I don't see absolutely anything special in Tijana, unfortunately( Let's wait for the song.

Juliana was fantastic and my favorite Albanian entry ever! xyes

And its completely true what you said about her personality shining though. She really came across on screen as fun, charming, warm and friendly xheart. I already loved the song and was rooting for it but everything else about Juliana made rooting for the song even easier xlove.

And a HUGE shout out to those cool ladies in the back xwave. They were totally amazing, every singer needs backing like this!! xmetalxcheerxyaay

So amazing even this rehearsal video focuses solely on them! xyes

Anyway if Tijana puts out anything as good as Juliana did then Macedonia have my support in Copenhagen xcheer.

Tijana is a hell of a performer!! She also has a great personality, much like Kaliopi!

No and it's good that there won't be ethno this year. I am hoping for a solid catchy dance tune that would give them a chance to do really well. Tijana in her latest interview with OGAE Poland said that she is aiming for a top5 result!

Also, the song will be premiered on the 22nd of February, most likely. They still work on production/stylizing the song. Also, the title hasn't been officially confirmed!

I'm sorry, not liking it xshrug

I hope this will be a similar case as with Nina Badric for Croatia back in 2012. I didn't like any of her uptempo songs and there were also talks back then that she'd be sending an uptempo song, but in the end she sent one of the few songs by her that I can honestly say I like.

Am I the only one disliking Albania 2010? xshrug To me that's a totally uninspired and generic song with a boring "mum at the disco warning" performance... we've had plenty in that genre in ESC over the years, but better and packaged more freshly both in visual and sound.

No, you aren't. Although I think she sold it well the song in itself was rather lame and forgettable. Then again, given how weak the final that year woz it nevertheless probably got the result it deserved.

Dapčević's songs tend to have a little more quirk but what the Eurovision entry will sound like is an entirely different story. xshrug

I think it was a pretty good draw for Tijana. Televoting-vise it was good to end up in a semi with Slovenia, Switzerland, Italy and Austria (Germany and Romania should not be discounted). Jury-vise, there is Belarus and Malta. On top of that 15 countries in the semi and performing in the second half. Now if her song turns out to please the fans, it would be more than enough to go through. :)

Can a mod change the title to "Unbreakable"?

The song was never called "Pobeda". That was simply the work-in-progress title until they release an official title. :)

The song will be sung in English! :D :D

That's not true, Tijana said it will be on macedonian

Apparently another sell-out.

Well, I didn't like her material anyways and seeing she's selling-out to English makes her even less interesting in my book.

I'll wait and see for the song, but I doubt I'll like it.

next.

They want to have a good result, and those chances unfortunately decrease with Macedonian. Especially this year, when they have no neighbouring countries, and need to have votes from Western-Europe.
Also seeing the flop of the songs on native language last year it's not a surprise.

Unfortunately majority of viewers are no native-language admirers like you, but will instead vote for a song that is good, catchy and that they understand. ;)

And nobody cares about someone who made up their mind before they heard a song. Bye.
