Me voilà même si mise à nue j'ai peur, oui

Me voilà même si mise à nue c'est fini

Me voilà même si mise à nue c'est fini
Me voilà dans le bruit et dans la fureur aussi
Regardez moi enfin et mes yeux et mes mains
Tout c'que j'ai est ici, c'est ma gueule c'est mon cri
Me voilà, me voilà, me voilà
Voilà, voilà, voilà, voilà
Voilà

Congrats Gjon Tears :ROFLMAO:

Anyway, this song is so powerful.. might win the whole thing
I‘m sorry, but singing the same language is not enough for that comparison. Different style, different topic, different dynamic, different charisma, and the list goes on.

Oh, it's not a negative comparison I promise.
Even so, both are great ballads. And Barbara does look like Gjon a bit. :ROFLMAO:

I didn‘t take it as negative. I found them just to be very different. But I give you the pont with the hairstyle!

I'm 100% with @Edweis on this.

I put a 4 in the rate poll : not my cup of tea at all.

And I really don't understand how you on here can pretend that she doesn't mimic Piaf : the gestures, wearing black, seule en scène standing without moving. I don't say that it's bad to have influences but come on, it is obvious.

On an other topic : I really HATE Stéphane Bern but Bocolini could be a really good host for JESC. I don't watch a lot to tv and only remembered elle from Le maillon faible a billion years ago, I was really pleased with her yesterday. (And at the end she was out of control singing and screaming, I can feel you Laurence I am the same.)

It's still so embarrassing.. I mean, all the hype... buying international songwriters, all the comments that it "could win", it's the "perfect song", Tom performing on le Tour Eiffel for THAT insult of a "composition" :D
They didn't mention Tom during the show and a jury member (Manoukian if I recall correctly ) even did a speech about how bad it is to have the same Swedish songwriters writing songs for many countries in Europe... They really wanted us to forget last year.

I think nobody said that. Speaking for me only, what I meant is, that it's much more than the Piaf-factor. Otherwise it would be a very shallow view of things. There is a whole tradition in this style of singing/performing/expressing yourself going from Piaf over to Juliette Greco on to Barbara in the 60ies and 70ies further on to singers like Patricia Kaas and also to contemporary artists like ZAZ. And Barbara Pravi just follows this legacy with adding her personal flavor. Many of them match your description: black dress, expressive gestures, alone on stage... But all of them (and I just mentioned the most famous ones) where similar and different at the same time. Just because there are similarities doesn't mean, it's a carbon-copy.
I mean, nobody would say Blind Channel is mimicking ACDC and there's nothing more to it.

I think, the comparison comes mainly from one particular song of Edith Piaf, which is "Padam, padam". But also Piaf was quite different in her songs, many of them being even more iconic and contributing to her image than "Padam, Padam". Compare these and people will probably find more similarities between Barbara and Patricia than between Barbara and Edith.

5 points from Germany for a start. It's weird, because it should totally be my cup of tea, but for some reason I just can't get into it.
Maybe it's Barbara's way of performing, maybe it's the similarity to "Padam", it might even be that I dislike Barbara's voice; anyway, I will have to listen to this more often. It definitely could be a grower, and yes, it is clearly an improvement in comparison to last year. Or 2019.

Now that I have a proper sleep, I mean I have to switch between 3 NF and staying awake till 7am to catch the 3 NF was no joke.
It's not stressful, but it was hectic trying to juggle. LOL.

My thoughts on the NF:

The Good:
  1. Staging: I love that all entries got to do a proper staging for their performance. Love the LED screens, definitely effectively make the performances more dynamic and polished.
  2. Jury Panel: Seems like we got quite a balanced mix of juries.
  3. Flow of Show: Transitioned smoothly, the hosts seems competent. It doesn't feel very draggy.
The Not-So-Good:
  1. Elimination Round: Find this utterly unnecessary. It almost seems like they are trying to make sure a potential winning song who did not do well in the elimination round get better votes in the "super-final" round when the viewers' favourites got eliminated and there is a potential shift of votes to the potential winning song from these viewers.
If they want to eliminate songs to progress to the "super-final", they should let the performers do a follow-up performance.
And if there are time constraints, they should just decrease the number of songs to 3-5 to the "super-final" round.
  2. Combined Score: Someone pointed out that the juries' vote hold more power and it seems like it. They should do a point system instead like the current ESC standards, so it's a true 50-50 split. For this edition, it doesn't matter since the winner won both the jury vote and televotes. But for fairness, the one used in this edition should be tweaked.
  3. Announcement of Jury Selected Song to the "Super-final" round: I think this would create an unfair treatment to this entry. This entry is made known it wasn't doing well in the televote, so viewers who lost their favourites may not vote for it knowing it was saved by the jury. And also, it will create an impression that the jury will give this entry higher points, so people who have multiple favourites may choose to vote for the others.

Btw, this scoring system isn't actually that bad. I for one think it is good or maybe even great.

First, just one quick fact: the sum of jury points is the same as the sum of televote points, so we do have a 50:50 split. The resulting power of each set is the same, we're just discussing its distribution.

The original intent of this system is clear - prevent more Bilals from happening - or to be more precise, prevent people with huge following winning only based on the televote regardless of what's on offer. Which the previous French system couldn't achieve and which I think is a bad thing, because Eurovision eventually doesn't care much about domestic popularity.

You could of course just award the field with one set of :12: to :1: scores based on the jury placement, then the same for the televotes, addition the two scores for each participant and be done with it - that's what some countries already do. It eliminates the Bilal scenario danger and I am quite ok with it.

But if you want to use the original jury points for additioning (104, 76, 74...) and you don't want to use a direct proportionality for distributing the televote as before, you have to come up with some algorithm to determine that distribution. And here is the big thing: I think yesterday's distribution of the televote points is actually remarkably similar to the jury distribution and I think it's been intentionally done so. In other words: they've used some algorithm to make it so, without going straight for two sets of :12: to :1: scores.

JuryTelevote
1st104100
2nd7680
3rd7470
4th6660
5th5250
6th2230
7th1820
8th810

Had Barbara received 110 jurypoints at the expense of, say, Céphaz (who'd only get 46 jurypoints instead of 52 in this example), I think it's possible we would have seen 110 and 40 televote points for the 1st and 5th place instead.

I get this system is more complicated and might not make sense at first glance, but I think it is actually quite balanced and fair. And what really matters is: to win, you really need to place well with both jury and televote.

I also got the impression they wanted to prevent a Bilal-scenario. And regardless what you think of „Roi“ - the victory was heavily biased by a very specific group of people (a lot of whom probably don’t even care about the contest.) So I‘m pleased with the effort of TF2 to put on a mechanism where this is less likely to happen again.

Voilà another french entry that will rank much higher in the odds than in the final voting.
Wait for the moment when the odds will be a little bit more reliable. I‘m not sure this will automatically stay this good once other hyped entries are chosen (coughkeiinocoughtheroopcough).

Looking at your explanation, it seems this system is more of trying to adjust the power of televoters so that we can prevent a Bilal's situation? But what if the winner of the televote is truly what the masses want (ie. not someone with a mass following but genuinely a song that is well-liked by the general public)? We all know juries can be pretty F up with their votes too.

From the current system, the distribution of the votes seem to favour the jury side more than the public one since the limit of the top jury song can get is 120 points, but the top televote song can get is 100 points.
Therefore, using the current results as an example, the top jury song but got 2nd place in the televote will win the contest eventually instead of the one winning the televote but placed second in the jury vote.
I think it will be a better or fairer system if they allocate the televote points based on the percentages of the votes received.

Please pick this presenter to represent France next year! Thanks! xheat xbow
Indeed, this duet is the one thought to host next JESC.
Laurence is a host and comedian and freaking funny. She became iconic hosting the Weakest Link. xheat

BTW she rooted for Amui because she has a Tahitian husband.

She seems like a funny host even though I don't understand a single word she is saying.
So I welcome her to be the future host of the future French NF.

Side note: Her husband looks GREAT.
