Everybody says it's shit, including the minister of culture ! :ROFLMAO:
We still have a month to Belarus our entry ! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Do you have a source? I would like to share it. The minister of culture is totally right and I hope that France will change its entry ASAP. I need more Alma, Amir, Patricia Kaas and less Sweden/UK from Lidl. Thank you!

Hey, don't knock Lidl! I'm all here for a Lidl themed entry

I decided to give France my points, and ended up with a 3, I guess that could be turned into a 4. The best thing I have to say is that I like it more than France 2019.
And it Tom seems to be an able singer - unlike Bilal.

Did you listen to Tom Leeb stories on instagram ? He seems to be working on a new version (probably for pré-party only, etc) of the song with drum and guitar, some sort of a folk version. It seems so different that I'm not even sure that it is the same song, actually. Thoughts?

Yes Tom Leeb is doing a folk version and it looks better.

But on the article below (shared by a member of the delegation who listened to the songs), they say Tom song is a big success on the Itunes streaming platform in the pop category, being , #1 in France #4 in Sweden #4 in Israel, #4 in Luxembourg and also a great start in other countries but i dont see this as a sign of success. The article also mentions in bold that never a french entry at Eurovision had such a good start when he was released.
. This article is surreal. It just looks like a bad joke and pure propaganda no ?

It clearly does, isn't RTL a partner of Eurovision in France ?

Has he also mentioned for which purpose he's doing it for?
He hasn't but he said in a story "I understand that some people are disappointed by the version for Eurovision... but I'm working on a folk version". So it's probably a promotional version aside of the Eurovision one, which is literally idiot.

I've been trying really hard to root for my own country, but y'all are asking too much from me. Tom Leeb should consider himself lucky if he ends up anywhere but in the bottom 5.

I don't even understand the lyrics and can't manage to know in which language he's singing. Like, his accent in English is T E R R I B L E.

Personally, I understand more the English parts than the ones in French.

This song still bothers me a lot, tbh. It's beyond me how a professional Head of Delegation can think of "The Best In Me" being a contender for victory. I can't even think of a single aspect of the song which is good after all:
Arrangement: dated
Lyrics: clumsy and cheesy
Vocals: low-key lovely but the song doesn't do Tom's voice justice
Melody: Nursery rhyme-esque

I know that this is "just a song" but like "Sister" last year, I can't believe that these songs have been presented to the world thinking that they are massive hits and are about to move the masses. I mean, listening to them, make me wanna move, though.. but more like to another planet. Just very far away from them as possible.

His accent in French is worse. I struggled to figure out the language to begin with

These will resonate with the elderlies and the housewives, just like Redde-Amiel, which in her mind is probably the main demographic of Eurovision.

I am such a fake bitch. In 2018 I adored John Lundvik so much with My Turn, and two years later the song that I loved is revamped for France. What's wrong is that FRANCE IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BUY SONGS FROM FRICKIN SWEDEN.

8 points for France for now, and maybe 10 or 12 points later.

A male ballad with a soft voice is always better than Attention-seeking divas with technically perfect voices but no soul. There is more depth, warmth and longing to it.

Our HoD retweeted a post where someone said "at this stage, odds mean nothing" with a "Thank you Mr" comment... yep Alexandra, keep on being delusional xbeach
(She's right in the sense you can't predict how a song will fair three months before the contest, but when the whole Europe's telling you your song isn't cut out for it , it means something)

And literally EVERYONE is pushing for the folk version, so I hope they make the right choice, even if I don't believe much.

I don't know ... if everyone says unicorns exist, do we have to believe him? Often those who comment should look more at home and admit that, in most cases, the Trash reigns supreme . That is, "Toy" was a great song? He won the performance, the pretext that goes beyond music. For me, the performance is as important as the song but you can not reward a poor song based on gimmicks. Can many nations really ridicule your song? For me, after Belgium, your song is the best match for Spain, the Czech Republic and Albania. If "The best in me" is properly modified (French language and an acoustic sound), you can have your say to the ESC. Regarding the acidic commentators, I still remember Citelis words about Diodato and then Greece perhaps will make Superg!rl official  We wait for all the songs and then we can judge

We can all argue wether Toy was a great song or not, it's a matter of subjective taste. In the end, it won, so even if the performance and Netta's persona played a big part, people thought it was great enough to push it to victory.

Of course we have to wait for all the songs before making our final judgment, but here I was more talking about the fact the reaction was so negative there's little to no hope of it changing before May.

This, I can only totally agree with. The acoustic version he did for RTL already sound like another song. If they send it for ESC (and maybe switch to full French even if I don't think they will) it would rise in many people's book, mine included.
