It seems he's not aware that his song is badly received on social media actually. He asked a journalist what is the general impression, he responded that it gets mixed reaction.

Jesus.

Well, I don’t know. If I was in front of the media I wouldn’t want to be the one to explain my song was received this negatively either. He may be aware, but just doesn’t want to admit it in front of tv.

Now John Lundvik must stop send melfest rejects to other countries. The only objective of that is sabotage other countries to give more chances to Sweden win the contest. Now France has to wait 1 year to perhaps send an other song. hopefully we can slay at JESC before this year

Or how about blaming the ones that should be blamed? The French broadcaster and their Eurovision delegation? xshrug I mean it's not like these broadcasters are forced to pick up Melodifestivalen rejects as their entries? These conspiracy theories about Sweden are tiring, it's not as if Lundvik or G:son are forcing these broadcasters at gun point

Actually, Germany 2019 got massively negative reactions, especially from Germans and German press.
No one was supporting that entry apart from a very few hardcore fans + the broadcaster itself.
I don’t know if Germany is similar to the Netherlands in that aspect, but no matter what we send, everybody is extremely negative all the time. And Germany at least tried to deliver some sort of message. It was something. To me it wasn’t all bad.. This, however, is so bad it MUST be a joke. I just cannot believe it. I can’t.

It's heartbreaking for him. 😭
It is. I hope the wake up call won't be too hard :( Because as much as I dislike ou delegation's choice I can see he really likes the song and wants to make the most out of the experience. I'm still wondering what he saw in this though.

It looks like France has sent the worst entry ever in the history of the contest for some people

No, Moldova sent it

France just sent the second worst entry in the history of the contest.

I feel bad for Tom. During the press conference after the reveal, someone told him the negative reactions on the social networks. It was really embarassing. He seems to be happy about the experience but his reaction says everything I think he already regret to take part to Eurovision after this

An astonishing lack of class and respect from that journalist then.

I suppose that France wasn't shoved Swedish plastic wrappings from IKEA down their throats, however, Sweden "earned" a lot of credit by topping jury votes that other countries may fall for the Swedish formula, altough they shouldn't. And since Eurovision family is basically 50% Swedish dudes. So the HoD of France was maybe tapped by a Swedish bro and was offered friendly "help" and he was like "Ouiiiiiiiiiiiiii".....

Anyhow, if a country needs help, ask Italy for the cheese, not Sweden. Italy is trumping the televoting every year, which is the more important vote from a commercial perspective.

France doesn't need help with cheese from anyone, that would be an insult of national magnitude! ;)

So... I've got one and just one compliment attempt. His voice doesn't sound as insufferable as I imagined.

When I talked about "I'll only like it if he goes the full Aisel route and sings something totally out of what he is used to" I wasn't expecting it would be taking seriously. It sounds way more like a You Decide reject than a Melfest one. Absolutely NOTHING in this matches. I don't remember the last time I saw a song that manages to be unmemorable AND so bad at the same time. The french/english language switch sounds forced. the lyrics are bad. the way he sings it sounds like he actually hates the song and he is being forced to sing that.

i'd rather see him with the acoustic ballad with raspy voice. i'd give it a zero either way, but it would have been less tragic.

obvious zero, last place, and Twin Twin is out there celebrating to the fact that they won't be France's worst result anymore. and poor him, please fire the new HoD.

Let alone being a Melodifestivalen-reject, I'm pretty confident that even San Marino and Ralph Siegel would reject this entry. That tells alot.

THE GOOD:
-He's got a good voice.
-The instrumentals are decent.

THE BAD:
-It sounds like your average Eurovision song, really.
-It's also a bit repetitive.

THE VERDICT:
This song is a bit too formulaic to win in my eyes, but it might reach the left side of the point tally, only because it's a formula that works, and, as far as songwriting for Eurovision goes, has star power in the form of Thomas G:son. With some good staging, I place this song in the top ten. 7 points
