May I just remind France that Barei also thought singing in english was the winning formula...
May i just remind you how many country where english is not an official language have won (or just made a top 5) since the languages rule have been removed
By the way this belgian website give some news about the song:
- song will be released in february
- and partialy song in french (i would have prefered all in english...)
- France 2 is planning a promotion campaign of the song all over Europe
- During the selection, they had one imperative: a song which can please audiences from Lisbon to Baku
Wait and see

We knew it since friday.
Actually yes : "Le titre trouvé, restait donc à dénicher un interprète en totale adéquation pour défendre au mieux les chances de la France. C'est fait !"Erm, no?
I don´t know why, but I´m kinda looking forward to this year, great that the song will be at least partially in French.
Actually, the original song is probably in englsih so the question should rather be "I don't see any benefit from adding parts in French", lol.It would be better to be in French completely. I don't see any benefit from adding parts in English.
Does someone know how to cancel a post please ? I wanted to edit the previous one but instead I posted another one, lol.Actually, the original song is probably in englsih so the question should rather be "I don't see any benefit from adding parts in French", lol.
Then yes if the song is in english then they should keep it in english. Does it that necessary to have parts in French?Actually, the original song is probably in englsih so the question should rather be "I don't see any benefit from adding parts in French".
For french people and politics, it will. We already had a small controvercy with Amir's song. I can't even imagine if we had a song without almost lyrics in french. But we had the confirmation today that the song will have some french lyrics. The "problem" for now is that we don't know if the song was composed by french authors with french lyrics or by foreigners authors with english lyrics. Then yes if the song is in english then they should keep it in english. Yeah i understand that people in a big country with so many talented people and so big music industry want to see people from their country to write and work on the song. For french people and politics, it will. Exactly. Among french eurofans, it must be around 50/50 from what I saw, some fans are not against a full english lyrics song, and another small part still want some lyrics in french (like me).Yeah i understand that people in a big country with so many talented people and so big music industry want to see people from their country to write and work on the song.
Personally, one of the reasons why I don't want a song without any french lyrics is that in France, Eurovision isn't ultra popular (still wayyyy better than 5 years ago, though) and some media and haters still repeat that singing in english is necessary to win the contest (and we better stop participate, etc). And if we win this year (not very likely, not gonna lie) by singing with a full-english song, they'll have it right, and I really don't to see that. But it's the only reason, I can't see a 100% english song becoming a hit-chart in France but that's the goal. I don't see any french artist singing in english being popular currently, except Marina Kaye in 2015 and Hyphen Hyphen (a bit). There's also smaller reasons like radio quota, etcs. However sending the song in english shouldn't be a problem. I mean if you send a song in english doesn't mean that you accept english as a better language.
Well from 2009 to 2010 (that we have both juries and t/v) only 2 winners were not in english. So sending an entry that is not in english makes the victory very difficult but not impossible!Personally, one of the reasons why I don't want a song without any french lyrics is that in France, Eurovision isn't ultra popular (still wayyyy better than 5 years ago, though) and some media and haters still repeat that singing in english is necessary to win the contest (and we better stop participate, etc).
