It's hard to imagine what's going through the broadcasters head but it looks like they were paying more attention to the other entries around them in Malmo and seeing what was scoring high xshrug

This year it appears their willing to play the game more then in the past and go for the more typical Eurovision sound even though that has never been their style before xdoh

Don't worry, the other ones are better ! :)

The problem is that France Télévisions is not looking for people. They wait until someone gives them a song.
That said, the other problem is that they think that THIS kind of song is what is capable to win Eurovision... xfacepalm xfacepalm xfacepalm

I disagree with this.
France is one of the few countries in Eurovision, that is trying different style of songs from 2008 to 2013.

Yes that's true in the past but this year they are clearly thinking differently. It really does sound like your stereotypical ESC ballad that scores points from the jury xdoh. As A-lister puts it a American Idol winner's song

So as toinou03 pointed out they must think it has winning potential. They saw how well Malta did the last years and went to them xdoh

The first ESC song that came to my mind after listening to Joana's song was Belgium 2012 (Iris - Would you). And we all know that scored pretty much nothing with every voting

Oh no, Iris was way better. She was moving.
This one is dated and plain. :(

As for Destan, their song is in the kind of :at: 2004, Du bist, (if it's up to compare with Eurovision songs) but in more modern. I'm not a teenage girl so I won't cry upon it, but it's not bad and has a chance to make something in :fr: charts. This one, no...

BTW, this is the biggest hit in :fr: charts ATM :

I would like to see M. Pokora or Alizée for France. I know, that's impossible. :(

What a boring ballad, I think she deserved better one, I dunno if she's good like singer but color of the vocal is really good, especially lower parts, choruses are a bit weaker..I even think she's not for ballads at all, but smth uptempo,or midtempo preferably..

I was expecting the worst when I listened to Joanna's song but I actually didn't think it was that bad at all. It is a pretty typical dramatic ESC ballad but it also has it's moments that could set it apart. I like the menacing, almost warped violin in parts and the strange key change that leads to the chorus. The production is also strong. To me it sounds like something that could come from Israel. They go for similar dramatic, melancholy ballads. I like it!

It's just an ok ballad, nothing special, nothing exciting, nothing fresh.

toinou03 would you describe Destan's song as a ballad ballad or could it pass off as a ballad mid-tempo? :)

Snippets tomorrow I can't wait xcheer. You would think by my anticipation there will be more then only 2 song snippets and a lot more

I hope it's better than "Du bist". Otherwise, France is hopeless this year... :(

There’s going to be three ways of voting: by phone (3265), by SMS (sending 1, 2 or 3 to 73003) or directly on the France 3 website.

That is to say that for the first time, foreign fans will be able to help France choose their own entry thanks to the web voting through internet!

Nope. And it's even got a bit of l'Anglais interdite in it! And when they do sing en Francais, they sound like they speak English naturally and they've just learned French for the song.

Honestly Moustache is the best song there, but I can't see how they'll change a lot of it for Eurovision. I mean even going from the extract, there's a lot of computerised human vocals, they'll all have to be done naturally malheureusement, and magic of the song will be lost. Nevertheless, Twin Twin to Win Win!
