I just have a sneaking feeling with all the doom and gloom over the past few years with the pandemic and then the war, Kaarija is capturing a sort of “zeitgeist” moment when Europe just wants total escapism for a little while, and his OTT unadulterated fun of a performance is just the perfect tonic.
I don’t even think the juries will be such a killjoy to rank this out of contention.

Eurovision fans: OMG! such a fun and catchy song. We didn't see and hear anything like this in years! Well done Finland! 12 points!

Also Eurovison fans: OMG! such a fun and and catchy song. We didn't see and hear anything like this in years! How dare you Croatia! 0 points!

Even though both are "out of the box", this one has more of a radio/mainstream arrangement so its no surprising that bigger mass will gravitate towards it.

Where as our song is as underground/niche as it gets.

(I love both songs btw)

Käärijä's "Cha, Cha, Cha" is very close to take my first place of all time Finnish Eurovision Songs List. At least he is the best entertainer!

Now as far as I know, Loreen also has the Reputation of being a bit difficult, though I habe absolutely no idea if it’s unfounded or not. In the end whom one finds sympathetic or not is subjective.

And while there is certainly objectivity involved to a certain degree in the question of who is the better vocalist (which was also raised when the Destiny comparison came up), there is also some subjectivity to it. Sure, Destiny has a bigger range and she can play a lot with her voice etc., while Loreen’s voice (at least sounds to me as though it) resonates more, as in the notes she sings appear fuller, so to speak? I am not an expert and I don’t have the words to describe exactly how I mean it. And yes, maybe I am not right from an academic perspective. Anyway, so from the part of judging the quality of their vocal which can objectively be measured, I guess Overall Destiny should win over Loreen because she ticks more boxes, but in the end it also comes down to which criteria are the most valued by the individual who is appraising them. To me, Loreen is the better one because I don’t care how high you can sing etc., I value what I tried to explain about Loreens singing much more. And yes that’s subjective, but it isn’t completely unfounded either. Singing is an art and in art, objectivity doesn’t always rule the world.

Everyone can have their own opinion and preference, and we shouldn’t put down either Singer just cause they’re not to our preference. In objectivity terms, one might be better than the other but both singers discussed here, both arguably aren’t bad. And then one‘s own preference can shape whom we give the edge to.

You are so assertive, the definition of it.

IDK whether to diss you or hug you. 🤣

Joking. I'll pitty vote for Germany this year just because of your input on this forum. Eaea 🥰

The non-matching boots and the pink outfit to do gymnastics with would have looked ugly on everyone.

Destiny´s rehearsal outfits were horrible. Her "size" didn´t matter.

That's what normal people like you and I had said. A few. Those who actually voted for Måneskin 😁

Don't motivate me to immerse myself into swamp of Malta 2021 to recheck the posts there hahaha

UMK is a contest for qualifying to the Eurovision song contest here in Finland and almost without exception, we have at least one heavy metal song competing to be our representative. This year we didn't have a metal song... or did we?

OMFG! NEED this in Spotify!

Maybe if I were 15 years younger, this would be interesting.
I don’t know. It just misses me completely.

But, regardless of my personal preferences, it should do ok. I have learned over the years that things tend to change once they are on that big stage.
