Not really enthusiatic about Zuhlke's song, it might grow on me but i'm more for "Lover View" and "Bananas" especially.... either of them would be great, fresh new choices for Finland!

UMK Rankings followed up by a quick assessment.

:fi: UMK 2020 (Pre-show)
1. F3M - Bananas
2. Aksel Kankaanranta - Looking Back
3. Erika Vikman - Cicciolina
4. Sansa - Lover View
5. Tika - I Let My Heart Break
6. Catharina Zühlke - Eternity

I think Aksel is probably the best bet to get a result and being the only male in this selection could help him a lot. Wouldn't necessarily be my choice though. F3M and Erika are much more dynamic though. Hoping F3M are decent live.

Sansa I'll need to see live to get a proper read on. Right now its in the middle of the pack. Tika and Zühlke are absolute non-starters for me. Especially Zühlke.

did i even talk about the other songs? do they even matter?

1. erika vikman - cicciolina
2. sansa - lover view
3- f3m - bananas
4- tika - i let my heart break

5- catharina zuhlke - eternity
6- aksel - looking back

to be fair i almost put eternity in green because you know i can't resist a good old plagiarism and because it's so damn tacky but it's just kind of literal trash. sansa and f3m are suuuper fun but like not even 10% of erika. it's really cicciolina or argentina will cry. she is the best one and their best eurovision prospect too.

another country dunks eesti laul tho.

1. Erika Vikman - Cicciolina
2. Sansa - Lover View (Background music reminds me of some Daft Punk songs. That's why I like it).
3/4. Aksel Kankaanranta - Looking Back
3/4. Tika - I Let My Heart Break
5. Catharina Zühlke - Eternity
6. F3M - Bananas

Hopefully live-shows and stages are good and not YLE's crap: Glitter and wind machines.

Honestly I shouldn't be enjoying Bananas this much, the lyrics are... well no need to talk about the lyrics  But I looove the beat, it's so catchy.
This is definitely my guilty pleasure of the year.

I want Cicciolina to win! It would enrich this year's Eurovision, for sure! That said, I think that Aksel is going to win, though. He's the only male artists among female ones and his song has jury's pet written all over it.

I really don't want Aksel to win. Why send that when you can send something way better?

It depends on it, what yourself keep good;).

What's the scoring sequence of UMK 2020? Are they going by maximum score (a la most national selections) or absolute score (a la Serbia/Lithuania)?

Of course!
Anyway Aksel is probably more jury-fiendly than Erika but personally i don't like Aksel's song. However we need to see how they will be live.

Yep! Emma's "Circle of Light" was favourite to win UMK 2017, but unfortunately her live was terrible.

Tumblr, mostly.
I honestly cannot imagine a scenario in which William would snub Erika. I could definitely imagine Deban randomly giving his 12 to Sansa though xheart

A Bridge Too Far
Listened to the entries. I think all are decent, but none are great. I think Cicciolina and Eternity are the weakest songs in there, but both go for some nostalgic X-factor that might or might not pan out. Risky choice, not one I would go for. Lover View is very soothing but might just be a tad too boring. Don't see that as a future success. I Let My Heart Break is a decent ballad, but you're going to run into far better competition in that genre at Eurovision and this is not likely to be the best. Leaves us with Bananas and Looking Back. Latter successfully employs a very Sheeran-esque melody, but the song fizzles at the end and I don't think Aksel has the required charm to get the votes necessary. Haven't seen him perform live, maybe he really has some nice interplay with the camera, I don't know, but I doubt it. A song like that absolutely requires a good staging performance and I think it's just too much of a risk.

Bananas would be my preferred winner then. Of course the song is just dumb, but it's a kind of dumb I can tolerate, because it doesn't pretend to be more than it is. It has fun melodies, the lyrics are very likely to please the LGBT-crowd and I have to hand it to the producers, it just sounds good. It's not overproduced but actually rather sparse. Lots of sound effects to fill the voids, which is risky because it tends to distract, but here they are all used very effectively. Also, if they can really nail the harmonies that tends to sound very impressive live. Staging is easy for a song like this, just have them perform while doing some pseudo-dance like they do in the lyric video, it already works just like that. With all these potential upsides, this one has to be my favorite.
