Re: FINLAND 2014

Anybody, is this it?, or are there more to come for further semis? Last year I remember there was quite a good bunch of very good songs (although we ended up with boring queen bee...)

There are 12 songs, and that's all we're going to get.
Having listened to the demos, I'd say Dennis Fagerström is the most likely candidate to take it, and he should also do just that. It's hardly exciting, but it's the performance that currently works the best as a whole and that can, with a bit of polishing, work well even in ESC.

This year seems downright bad, though. Last year actually had a strong lineup, but this year… not so much. Jasmin Michaela is all right, even though the song is somewhat repetitive and her facial expressions are more annoying than they logically should be, and Clarissa&Josh may work somewhere, but in the end, I have to settle for Dennis.

Dennis is a safe choice for Finland, for qualification in the Final of Eurovision.

Re: FINLAND 2014

Could't remember who this dennis was, so went to check and OMG... It's so bad I would be embarrassed to be caught listening to it.

What's with you Finnish people and the bees? This one is so poor it even makes the other one sound sophisticated :?

Re: FINLAND 2014

ow, I put Dennis and Mikko in my top 3,
but after listening to the full demo's, I'm not so sure anymore...

After listening to all the demo's, I think Lauri Mikkola has the best song.
And now waiting to the live performances...

Re: FINLAND 2014

From this second series I'd rank

:1: Softengine : That's a solid song by an awesome (and hot) band. Would be a very good choice. Great rock song with a definite hook contrary of the other rock songs in UMK
:2: MIAU : I was really disappointed as song begins like a kind of Song #1... Then it comes really great from the middle of the song, and the end is really orgasmic... But that's really sad the 1st part is so pop-ish... I wanted something more punk ! Come on girls ! I don't believe it would be a great choice for Copenhagen but I gotta love these girls ! They rule ! xrockout
:3: Mikko Pohjola : I thought it would be a snoozefest based on the snippet, but it's a delicate and nice song. Would be a terrible choice for Copenhagen though.
:4: Dennis Fagerström : Based on the songwriters, I expected something cheesy as hell, but it's really decent and not forgettable. I would be terribly annoyed, though, to see my :fi: sending an entry composed by Michael James Down... :?
:5: Lili Lambert : That's a terrible disappointment. I thought it would be a great groovy song. But Lili doesn't have groove and her verses are aweful. The first 30 seconds need to be cut off totally otherwise everyone will go to the toilet before hearing that AWESOME chorus !
:6: Hukka ja Mama : That is really forgettable... :?

From 1st SF I'd rank

:1: Hanna Sky
:2: Lauri Mikkola
:3: MAKEA
:4: Jasmin Michaela
:5: Clarissa feat. Josh
:6: Madcraft

And overall ranking :
:1: Hanna Sky
:2: Softengine
:3: MIAU
:4: Lauri Mikkola
:5: MAKEA
:6: Jasmin Michaela
:7: Mikko Phjola
:8: Clarissa feat. Josh
9- Denis Fagertsröm
10 - Lili Lambert
11 - Madcraft
12 - Hukka ja Mama

 That's the complete opposite to how I feel. I think the verses are awesome. The chorus seems to be in two parts. The first part i'm not keen on as it's too generic but I like the second bit. The verses though are so goodxheat

I couldn't help thinking Pussy Riot when I saw MIAU's performance  that was definitely the most entertaining. Softengine has a nice song, but it's maybe a bit too "Coldplay". "My Little Honey Bee" is nothing but a guilty pleasure, and it doesn't deserve to win in a contest like this. Krista provided the easy pop this year, now it's time for something different imo.

I really really want Finland to send Mikko Pohjola. His song has me hooked! xheart It's a shame he'll probably not be picked, and if he did he'd probably crash in the semis :(

I also really like Jasmine Michaela :D

Re: FINLAND 2014

Well, After hearing all of the songs. There are no real stand out songs, or songs I expect to get any form of a respectable place in the final. I'm not sure if many of them would even qualify. We could possibly see Finland follow its typical path in eurovision and fail to qualify this year and then qualify in 2015.

It's a pity they've qualified with craps but stayed in the semis with great entries though :(

Especially 2010 is such an unfair story with the juries robbing them big time :(

I can't believe so called "professionals" support a childish wannabe Disney-Pop/Katy Perry crap with a "hook" aimed for 2 year olds over a nice little genuine ethno-fest :(

2012 was a huge sticking point and disappointment with me :( Their song that year was one of my favourites and i was so upset that it failed to qualify.

Yeah, 2012 is another sad example... though I sorta "expected" that one to fail though :( A subtle sweet little ballad in Finno-Swedish may not be something that directly caught the average Joe's attention :(

Oskar's and Krista's entries = xpuke

Those Finno-Swedes seem to act like nationalistic diaspora voters in ESC when it comes to voting in the Finnish selections ... although just being a minority, they seem to concentrate all their votes on a certain Finno-Swede entrant and make it win in the end

The juries also supported "Marry me", giving it first place. Don't know about the other years.
