Ok, my first reaction was very emotional because i was really rooting for MIAU and Mikko.
I've listened to this song again a few times and now i changed 1 point to 6 points, i still don't like the song, but i figured out why - these annoying repetitive chorus kill the whole thing, that was the reason why i hated "Unbreakable" by Sinplus back in 2012.
The rest of the song is quite nice, with better chorus i could possibly give it 8-10 points. Maybe next time, Finland ;)

^ I know the feeling... first I was mad, then I decided to give it a 6. The chorus is the problem.

It was said on a UMK pre-show, but the biggest problem in Something Better is indeed the chorus. The only thing they'd need to do is add a hook instead of repeating it the third time, and that's that. Repeating the same thing three times in a chorus isn't a problem if the third time has a serious hook, but doing it four times is. The build-up seems good as it is.

There's hope for that, as they're going to polish the song and rerecord it before ESC. There's still time, and judging by how the band works with their songs, I feel pretty certain they'll do it well.

Also, would it be so difficult for YLE to release the full televote results? The top 3 is a start, but what's the problem with releasing the rest?

I quite like the song, even though it is way too "standard". The singing is annoying, maybe a little bit off-key?
8 points!

I love Mikko's song the most and it will be my no. 1 of the whole season but I am really glad that Softengine won (my no 2 in UMK14). This song is really catchy and professional. This is a kind of music which I listen normally. I think Finland will do well for their standards this year.

My current favourite in ESC 2014 so 12 points.

The total (jury + televotes) top 3 results would look like this (now that YLE has released the top 3 televotes):

1. Softengine 23 %
2. Mikko Pohjola 18 %
3. Miau 15 %

Wow, lots of 12s and 10s. Surprised so many people seem to enjoy this incredibly bland song

It would be interesting to know how many of them come from Finland since most positive comments on this thread come from there ;)

Who knows.. but anyway I think it would be better if we could not give points to our own country here on these threads - the same way it is with the Ranking Game.

Maybe, do you think? I dunno, apparently there are positive comments coming from several diferent countries. Myself, I wouldn't like it any better if it was Portuguese anyway xshrug
I'm truly mystified, I don't understand it, because although I'm aware that taste differs, this is just nothing xwhat
