in 2010 an African team (Ghana) made the quarter finals, in 2014 a Central American team did (Costa Rica)
in 2006 and 2018 the quarter finals consisted as mostly only of European and South American teams

It's time now for an Asian team to shine again and to qualify for the Quarter finals

WC 2002 was the greatest tournament. Teams from all different confederations (apart from OFC) made the quarter final. Senegal, USA, South Korea... I guess this will never ever happen again xcrazy

Anyway, South Korea has no chance tonight but Japan might beat Croatia xpray

I doubt that South Korea will make it, but I have some hope for Japan. Let them move on to the round of 8, please!

Not to go against the tide but I believe instead that :kr: could surprise us with a great feat xshock1:xfaint while :jp: will be defeated by a :hr:that has quality but also knows how to be very solid. Croatians will also never make the mistake of underestimating Japanese samurai.

I don't know. Brazil looked okay against Serbia, solid but underwhelming against Switzerland and that saw them through. Have Brazil actually been tested by a team that gave everything? Not exactly. If South Korea can manage to finally get Son involved there are definitely chances, so I agree with you there. However, these same arguments apply to Croatia. Against Morocco they were equal, they beat Canada without much issues, against Belgium they were worse and were lucky Belgium was wasteful. They haven't been good. Not that Japan was looking like world beaters, but they sure were dangerous. Both matches could be interesting. I hope both Asian teams will make it, it's just more enjoyable seeing underdogs make deep runs.

I'm happy we made Top 16. xcheer

Anything else is just bonus in my eyes.

I'm fine with whatever outcome happens today against :jp:

I would however prefer a close game and not a beatdown xpopcorn

The Turkish commentator is clearly supporting Japan, there was a silence of 5 seconds after Croatia scored the goal as he couldn't contain his disappointment xrofl xrofl xrofl
