I always root for Hello Kitty nation to advance as far as possible in the World Cup.

If they knock us out in the Round of 16, I probably won´t be as upset as I would usually be. :giggle:

I want both teams in QF. Won't happen.

Germany so despite their loss to Costa Rica they are through. Heroic stuff from them and the definitely the team of the tournament so far for me.

For the 2nd straight World Cup Germany go out in the group stages. This time they've gone out fighting though but that opening defeat to Japan in the group proved to be costly.

For the first time since 2002 when they were co-hosts :jp: Japan has won its group!

I'm happy for Japan, but imo FIFA screwed Germany over there. The ball went out of play, it's just convenient that the VAR camera has failed to pick this up because the boot covered the ball, I'm not convinced.

FIFA want Messi to win the world cup, that's my gut feeling.

Today was the most interesting evening so far. What suspense! I enjoyed every second of it.

Sad for Germany, but happy for Japan. They showed Spain’s weakness imo: the goalkeeper.

I agree with the first part of your post, I'm happy for Japan but can't look away something pretty obvious, that ball was out.

As for the second part, if FIFA wanted Messi to be world champion, they would not have used VAR for the three goals against Saudi Arabia.
Also, I don't see the link between Messi and the elimination of Germany. If you mean cleaning the path for Argentina, I don't think Germany meant than danger than Japan.

By the way ...

Who does the German team meet in the round of 16? The airport staff!

:ROFLMAO:
Just a reminder ...

Well, Germany didn't deserve it and Japan simply did! They were fantastic in the group phase and I am rooting for them now. Won't be easy match for Japan, but as the WC shows, teams can surprise!

Sorry for Germany, but they need to get things together. In some moments I simply missed their passion and their WILL to win as high as possible. They may have good players as Musiala and Sané, but our defense is terrible. I also don't understand why Flick didn't use Füllkrug from the beginning. It may have not helped (since Spain lost), but some of Flick's decisions I can't support - like taking Gündogan out in the match against Japan. Oh well.
