Tonight :ir: qualified for the WC after beating :uz: 2:0..
They are the third qualifier after prequalified :ru: and :br: and they didn't even concede a goal in the final round so far... impressive stuff!

Deserved, but i still hope that :uz: will make it. I dont know which Newcomer we will have otherwise.

Their chance to climb up to second place is still there and it's not even unlikely.
Even if South Korea wins their match today and extend their margin to Uzebkistan to 4 points they are not safe yet.
South Korea is gonna face Iran in matchday 9 while Uzebkistan gotta play against China. I can see South Korea losing it (even though Iran might not play with total determination knowing they are already qualified) and Uzbekistan beating China. Then suddenly Koreas advantage has almost melted away and there will be a final battle on last match day between Uzbekistan and South Korea with Uzbekistan being the home side.
However, even though this sounds optimistic for Uzbekistan I don't see them finishing ahead of South Korea. The Koreans have much more quality and experience .

I wonder if there are potential newcomers in other continents.

Oceania.. no. Just no.

In South America it could only be Venezuela but they are dead last in their campaign and have no chance anymore. I guess they are already deperately waiting for their golden generation to join the A-team (their under-20 team were finalists of this year's U-20 World Cup)

In North America, Panama is a serious contender. The match vs Honduras tomorrow will be a key match in the fight for the 4th place. The fourth placed team will meet the 5th place of Asia qualification (possibly Uzbekistan?) and I can see Panama winning that

The Africa qualification is a totally open race once again. DR Congo already took part in WC under a different name (Zaire, in 1974) so I don't count them. However, Burkina Faso looks pretty promising atm. They're leading the group and their competitors Senegal and South Africa are far away from their best times... but as I said, it's completely open. Also Uganda in Group E started well, but they have Ghana and Egypt in their group so this is pretty tough.

Last but not least: Europe. I make it short: If there is a newcomer then it'll be Iceland. For me their chances are like 40:60. Meanwhile they should have a somewhat decent coefficient which means if they become 2nd place they might get allocated to the upper pot in the play-offs draw. But then again... why not winning this group? Croatia still have difficult away matches against Ukraine and Turkey in their schedule and Iceland can gather some more sneaky wins. Since this group is a bloodbath Iceland can also end up on 3rd or 4th place anyway. One shouldn't rule out Montenegro yet but I expect Denmark to catch them up.

My Newcomers prediction: Panama... and, since I am biased, Iceland. Unsure about Burkina Faso.

Yes, but unfortunately :uz: lost against ::sy some month ago, which should have been an easy win. And against S-Korea. they were 1:0 in the lead and lost 1:2 in the end. So its most likely that :uz: will end up 3rd and if there is no surprise they will only have a chance to win vs Saudi Arabia.

The best case would be if Panama and Uzbekistan would meet in the intercontinental Playoff.

In Africa i forgot about DRK. They played a much better African Cup than Tunisia and so they might have the best chances to become a Newcomer.
In Group D, Actually Senegal is in their best form since 15 Years (they lost in the AC only in penalties) and are much more favorised.

And in Europe i think Group E will have the worst 2nd Place, since 4 Countries are in the same niveau and will take off their points. Look at Denmarks Group from WC 2014 then you see what i mean. In the end there will be only :pl: probably. But if :me: somehow surprisingly reach the Playoffs, their opponent will probably be GR/PT/IT/ESP/CH/FR/SW/IS/HR etc.. so i dont think it will be their Debut next year. Europes only hope is :is:

AFC:

Katar vs South Korea 3:2
Syria vs China 2:2
Thailand vs United arabic emirate 1:1
Irak vs Japan 1:2

Group A:
Iran is safe as said. South Korea and Uzbekistan will fight for the 2nd Place. South Korea is 1 Point ahead but has the 2 different Matches against Iran and Usbekistan still to solve.
There might be a surprise Qualifier.

Group B:
Still a three Horse Race. Australia (16) is atm 3rd but has still a Freewin against Thailand so i think they will at least become 2nd. Japan (17) and Saudi Arabia (16) have still to play against each other.

Let's be real for a sec.. Lewandowski alone is responsible for polish sucsess..without him it would be a three-way battle with :me: and :dk:

But oh, how i envy you...as i said earlier, slovenia is now the weakest when it comes to strikersxwait

We flopped hard in Euro2012 as host even with him and failed to qualify to WC2014
I'm not really into this theory, because let's sorround Lewandowski with 3 defenders and Poland is done kind of tactics doesn't really work  But seriously he is already our 2nd top scorer in history only 2 goals behind, he will be the best ever soon.. our team is much better since he became a captain so YES he's really important.. aand is one of my favourite Polish athletes along with Radwańska, Włodarczyk and Kowalczyk xheart xheart

And i hope that :uz: will QF for first time, if they win in home over :kr: :)

Since they even lost against ::sy it seems rather unlikely. If they won, a draw against south korea could have been enough.

I really hope we can make it. Tomorrow will be hard...

:pl: has (or should have) 6 safe Points from :am: and :kz: safe.
And I think :ro: :dk: and :me: take each other the Points away.

But we also have not to lose against :ro: :dk: and :me:. But I'd rather win with :dk: and :kz: to be 100% safe. Keep your fingers crossed xheart

Group A:

:fr: vs :nl: 4:0
:bg: vs :se: 3:2
:lu: vs :by: 1:0

"Ohne Holland fahrn wir zur WM" again i guess.
Im more surprised about :bg: and :lu:. But in the end i think it will stay like it is at the moment.

Group B:

:ch: vs :ad: 3:0
:pt: vs :fo: 5:1
:hu: vs :lv: 3:1

Everything according to plan. I hope :ch: defends the Lead.

Group H:

:gr: vs :ee: 0:0
:be: vs ::gib 9:0
:cy: vs :ba: 3:2

Thats the safe Victory for Belgium as everyone expected. Greece surprisingly only draw but to their luck Bosnia got an even worse Result. I think Greece will end up 2nd.
