Scotland 1-1 Lithuania

I can't believe I actually spent money to go to this game. Atmosphere was amazing, but we were terrible.

Unless we beat Slovakia on Tuesday I think we're done already.

Easy win for the "low-quality team" :is: tonight against an awful Turkish team. Iceland could have won by bigger margin but they lacked a bit determination to score the third goal in the second half. Turkey had basically no good chance, only desperate shots form behind.
Seriously, it looked like Luxemburg players took on the jerseys of Turkish national team. Probably, the real turkish players are locked in some basement, being fettered and gagged.
:is: is in a fantastic position now, beat one of the biggest rival at home and got a draw in an away match against the other rival. In November against Croatia they probably get slaughtered but well.. Iceland has still both matches against Kosovo, so this is an advantage too. xup Am very satisfied

San Marino - Azerbaijan 0:1
Azerbaijan - Norway 1:0
Czech Republic - Azerbaijan 0:0

:az: second place, 7 points, still a clean sheet

respect  Looks like they're gonna be our ( :de: ) biggest "rival" ... let's see if their defense can bring us in trouble when we meet them (sadly we gotta wait until next year for this match) ^^ Great developement for this country, anyway.
then again, it's kinda sad how weak our group is. Almost ridicolous, there is no challenge for us. I hope we can not only win all 10 matches but also keep a clean sheet until the end. If we survive the match in Prague without conceding a goal we will probably make it

Btw, congrats to San Marino for scoring tonight.

What this goal means to this country you can see in twitter messages like this:

How lucky :D I hope we won't lose any points in the future must-win matches.

We think about Denmark and Romania but here are other teams which want to make surprises and scratch some points.

The sooner Strachan is sacked, the better. We got torn to shreds last night.

Maybe too early, but I have the feeling the 2nd place of Group C will not get a 2nd chance to qualify, unless Azerbaijan and Germany will both marching on. Just a random guess :D

Azerbaijan has no chance tbh. They gonna conceed handful of goals from Germany. Also, they have to play Northern Ireland too...

FIFA council 'rather positive' toward 48-team World Cup - Gianni Infantino

The prospect of an expanded World Cup 40 or 48 teams moved a step closer on Thursday after FIFA president Gianni Infantino revealed that the organisation's highest decision-making body supports the idea in the belief that it will increase the global popularity of the game.

On the first day of the two-day FIFA Council meeting in Zurich, the issue of increasing the number of teams for the 2026 tournament and beyond was one of the main items on the agenda.

Following discussions amongst the 36-member body, Infantino told the media: "The general feeling amongst them is rather positive towards expansion. We had a very good discussion. The feeling of the FIFA Council is that giving more teams a chance to qualify for the World Cup is beneficial for football development.

"When a team qualifies for the tournament the whole country is in football euphoria. More youngsters want to play the game, companies want to get involved in sponsorship and the benefits to football as a whole are immense."

The FIFA Council will make a final decision on the format of future World Cups next January.

"We are focused on 40 or 48 teams," Infantino said. "We need to do more analysis on how the tournament will work before we settle on a preferred option."

Earlier this month, Infantino raised the prospect of a 48-team World Cup that would see 16 teams eliminated after one knockout match.

xfacepalm xfacepalm xfacepalm

Why even qualification? Why not a big tournament with all 200 FIFA member states?

48 is a very normal number, considering that there are more than 200 FIFA members overall.

I'm pro-enlargement. If one wants predictable and repetitive one can always watch the Scottish league.

But 48 teams might be a tad too much. Specially considering that they want to send 16 nations packing home following a single match.
