Moving through Germany
The ultimate games from Germany don't say much about their chances I'd say. In 2 out of 3 matches this year the starting eleven was indifferent to the one we can expect. Only the match against Spain showed us what we can expect, and I must say this match was a great, almost world cup alike. Both teams showed great attacking spirit. With Spain beating the shit out of Argentina I'd say they are one of the top favourites. Others are Brazil, France, Germany and maybe Belgium or even England (small chances for the lions tho). But for Brazil and France are the top shots. France may sorted out many promising names, but I guess that was in favour of the team spirit. Better have 12 reserves than a squad of 22 stars who cannot handle not to play. And Brazil is always considered a favourite and sometimes things just have to work out. I mean it's 16 years since they've won, sometimes it just happens even if you don't expect it. Especially with Brazil.

Anyway I hope for an exciting tournament. I want to see a cured Salah, Isco and Reus on fire, Iran or Morocco eliminating Portugal/Ronaldo, Senegal (the first world cup sensation I got to experience) and Iceland doing well and the missing dot on i would be a thrilling Group D with Argentina being eliminated. So sad that Dybala, Higuain and Messi cannot play for other teams.

I would love to give you a big fat "like"! Agree with you on anything you said. I guess I mostly have low expectations on our German Team, so that I don't get disappointed. I mean 2014 was completely unexpected (at least for me). I am a Salah-Fan too (love Liverpool because of Kloppo) and hope he can play and make many goals. I hope that there are going to be some completely unexpected eleminations and winners. Just like Iceland last time.

The World Cup for me? I'm Dutch... :( Well I also have Brazil in my winning predictions. Iran and Iceland will be big surprises of this World Cup I hope.

Don't be sad. Look at Italy. They must hurt much as well. Maybe you can find some other teams you can support this time. Hope you can still enjoy it! :)

2 Weeks before last Eurocup we lost 1:3 against Slovakia, but in the 8th Final, when it mattered we won 3:0. I wouldnt worry about the last Results.

The friendship games doesn't mean much, you are right. Mostly it is about testing different players, additionally, I think that players are very careful not get any injuries before the big games, so they don't play with full energy anyway.

Very much looking forward to Thursday and the start of the World Cup! Though I expect the first match I will watch will be Portugal vs Spain. After a great warm-up against Costa Rica, fingers crossed for our first match against Tunisia!

Austria defeated Germany but not Brazil, so I think Brazil will win the final against Team Erdogan.

I can't wait for the championship to begin as well xcheer

We have a tough group but I believe that we have a good enough team to potentially make it through.

The first duel with Costa Rica is the crucial one and that's where we need a victory. Costa Rica is a great team but I think that, at this point, they are not on the same level as in 2014. And that will be our chance. We were hiding our cards in the last 2 friendly matches so we should be able to surprise them as well. It will be very tough but in order to pass the group, we need all 3 points here.

Switzerland will be very tough also. This could be a direct knock-out match (for the second place). Their style, however, suits us well and if we don't make silly mistakes like on our last 2 World Cups, we will have our chances.

And Brazil.....well, one can hardly hope for anything here  Brazil is extremely powerful based on what I saw in these matches they played recently. Yesterday they easily beated Austria with 3:0 despite the great performance from the Austrian team and they could've easily scored at least 5 more goals. This Brazil is strong both in defense and in offense as well. Nobody scored against them for 14 matches in a row. Which says enough  We will have to play a bunker and defend with at least 7 players to try not to get smashed too much  And also to pray for a miracle.

In all honesty, though, we will probably seal our destiny in the first two matches and that's where we need to look for points. Against Brazil we should just try to give our best and see how enough (or far from enough) that will be.

Looking forward to the games :D

I really like Mesut and Ilkay, but that was a stupid thing to do. They knew that such a shitstorm would come up. If they didn't expect it, then they are really naive. But I think you should still forgive them, everyone does something stupid in life once in a while.

As usual, we have a prediction competition at work, and I've predicted Germany as the winner, with Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina in the following places.

"My" team, Iceland, will (according to my predictions) get knocked out from group D with 6 points, but worse goal difference than Argentina and Nigeria. Hope I'm wrong here tbh. As for the other Scandinavian teams, I have Denmark thru, and Sweden knocked out from the group stage.

The plan was to watch all the matches, but as the Norwegian FA has decided to have cup matches playing at the same time as the opening match, and also league matches later in the tournament, I will miss out on a few matches. And I intend to let them know how I feel about this match set-up.

Well I will definitely miss some matches. I hope so. But the most boring match of the whole world cup is the opening match, which makes it less boring. So I guess I probably will miss a game like Tunisia vs. Panama or Nigeria vs. Croatia. Teams I don't really support(Though I love Panama) and thus are a bit boring for me. But you never know if Panama starts winning with 6-0 versus England everything will change :D

Hope that Serbia is going to make it to the next round. Will be hard against Brazil, but nevertheless a second place is possible! :D
