The BBC made a one-off TV film called 'Christopher And His Kind' based on the autobiography of novelist Christopher Isherwood who was an upper-class British who went to Berlin in the late 1920's to enjoy the liberalism of Weimar Republic. He goes with various guys there but eventually met one called 'Heinz' and they fall in love, etc. But unfortunately they are torn apart once the Nazis come to power and Heinz is taken by the Gestapo but they met again in West Berlin after the war but it wasnt the same (Heinz had had a wife and children) and they lost all contact after Christopher published the book . It's great but really sad, particularly at the end .
