The BBC snubbed the 50 year show as they were going to host it but the BBC were going to spend a lot on it. The EBU wanted to do the whole thing on the cheap and the BBC said that the budget meant the show would be substandard. What DR produced was exactly that something average at best.

So we can all assume the BBC will go all out this time then?

edit: Mind you though, the BBC hardly spent a bomb on their own anniversary show? :?

So they threw their toys out of the pram when they didn't get to host it and then didn't even air it. How mature and frankly I found the 50th Anniversary perfectly acceptable light entertainment. I highly doubt in 2014 this will be big budget, the TV budgets are tighter now than 10 years ago.

How about Petra and Anke Engelke? xheart

Because the British public would be in outrage and be like. WHO DA HELL ARE THESE HOE'S? *changes channel* that's why. If they have a green room then maybe one of them could present in there.

Okay then... so rent some British popular TV host, and Anke, and Petra.

And Ott Lepland. Just standing there smiling would be enough.

Whatever.....

Do we know how will the Anniversary show be? I mean, we'll get former ESC songs competing again? Will ESC artists perform their songs? Will we get ESC artists singing classics? In that case I want Alyona Lansaya singing some classic French ballad like "Refrain" or "Après toi". PLEASE.

THAT would be a lovely idea, inviting artists of the recent years singing classics! Imagine Lena making a suggestive "La Det Swinge" or Valentina Monetta make a jazzy version of "Hold Me Now".

This anniversary show would be a perfect chance to pick a permanent winner for 1969. It's about time

We could have some recent representatives defending their country winners and let the people vote.

:nl: Ilse DeLange
:uk: Jade Ewen
:es: Pastora Soler

From an article from Belgium, it seems the show will indeed be hosted by Petra Mede and Graham Norton, and be shot on the 31st of March. I really hope it can be a great celebration of the Contest, in all its glory, past and present. In France and Belgium, we often have pictures from only the old songs in the Contest, you would think that we still have the same shows as we had in the Sixties.
