Juries didn´t make "Blackbird" :fi: 2017 qualify - they wouldn´t have saved "Aija" either.
Yeah pick one random act and generalize te hell out of it, this doesn't make much sense lol

I can totally understand the "perks" of having juries around if they save songs like :al: 2018 or :be: 2021, for example but it´s basically just "one song per semi per year" (max.) in recent years and they´ve been "outrageously wrong" at times as well (like killing off huge fan favourites like "Igranka" or making "Blackbird" fail.

But after last night´s results, I really don´t get such comments.

:hr: and :rs: might be a bit "meh" in terms of vocals or staging but it´s not like we had much to choose from.....
And :hr: would have probably qualified in a 50/50 semi... and it got the MOST views from ALL participants - including :fi: and :se: - Isn't it just fair to see "the public´s favourite" to advance to the final? - I don´t care if they get 0 points by the juries on Saturday but at least, a fan favourite didn´t get killed in favour of 5 random people who were part of a talent show a decade ago voting upside down and prevent :lt: and :pl: from qualifying in 2019.

Im generally fine with no juries in the semis now but Ronela would have been in the final last year and she had no business being there on the Saturday

Yeah, sometimes you win some and sometimes you lose some... no system is perfect - but dunno... most fans got 9/10 or 10/10 right after tonight´s show... I fail to see how juries would have prevented countries from qualifying last night.... Do we really miss :nl: in the final? :mt:? :ie:? I mean, I wouldn´t mind them but it´s not like they deserved to be in a jury´s Top 5 last night.

Also the most generic ballad/song accompanied by the best vocals of the night coming from a country "without diaspora in Europe and no real voting bloc" qualified (:ch:) - And I´ve noticed quite some posts of fans whining about "no juries" because "such a quality entry" would never qualify... and here we are.... having to endure this watergun-body bags-mess on Saturday again.

Did you all want :az: to qualify with that song?!

YES!!!!

But apart from that, you‘re absolutely right. Although some of my favourites might have been saved by the juries I don’t want them back for now. Let’s see how it’s gonna evolve in the future.

All NQ yesterday weren’t safe Q with juries either. The only borderline song that was a safe jury bet was Switzerland - and this qualified even without juries! So we don’t need them…
