That sounds realistic.

If Norway draws 1st half I can see the producers putting it on early as they may think it doesn't have a realistic chance of winning vs other bops.
Pity, I actually prefer Queen of Kings to Tattoo and Cha Cha Cha. But I can see QoK being 'sacrificed' if there are a limited number of 'good' slots for the top few contenders.

Australia feels like an opener if they draw 1st half.
Yeah Norway does have that „will be thrown under the bus“ vibe, doesn’t it?

While I personally don’t really like QoK, I am always sad to see when that happens and I would strongly be in favor of drawing the running order in that regard, but A) I do think the show itself is a bit more enjoyable (sometimes, not every year!) with the producer-made one, and B) I sincerely still think if a Song is destined to win, it will, even from 2nd/3rd etc.

This has got me thinking about Malta being placed 6th in the running order in 2021 despite being one of the favourites to win. Why did the producers decide to sacrifice it? Did they think it hadn't a chance to win despite the odds, or maybe there was no real motive behind the decision? It did well in the SF so not sure why they would have decided it was not a winner

Interesting question. To be honest I think it might have just been because a lot of songs that weren’t really destined to do well (with the tele) had been drawn into the first half and they wanted people not to tune out. So they chose to put one of the two songs with Buzz (the other one being Switzerland) towards the middle of the half to keep people entertained.

I am not saying entries like Manizha weren’t liked or anything, but Switzerland and Malta were the only two actual favorites in the half

Kinda sad 2012's stage is still the one to beat
But atleast it's not Denmark's nightmare
oh I have the opposite opinion. I thought most of us agree that Baku was horrible not only the stage but also the hosts and the audience. Denmark 2001 was the worst venue ever in my eyes, I could not continue watching it after a couple of songs. Denmark 2014 was the best stage for me.

I liked the 2012 stage, and musically it's probably my favourite year on record. It's a shame it was wasted on that audience, there was more life in a graveyard than there was in that arena in Baku.

Omg yaaaas (sorry the secret wiwi-fangay spontaneously broke out of me) 2012 is musically one of my absolute favorites, but when I look at the comments here, I don’t think many agree.

For me 2012 was on of the stronger years in the past decade songwise, even though not the best for me. My personal favourite was :ee: with Ott Lepland and "Kuula", he was my first ESC crush actually. xblush

I'm always annoyed when Eurovision do some 'best year ever' poll on instagram, Twitter or whatever and it's always one of the most recent years coming up. Sis no. :'D 2012 had such consistently great music as well as strong presence of local sounds and languages. People have their own prefences and the past few years imo are really not amongst the best ever for me.

He was my number one back then and I think I might have had a tiny crush on him too, though that thought only came to me in hindsight. By now, Serbia overtook it to be my number one, and some others as well, but he will always remain one of my favorites.

Because they knew about Malta's inflated betting odds and pay-pals?

I enjoy MyrtleP's channel as well, they give a friendly family vibe and are kind to all entries. I also respect them as they have a serious background in music. I just mostly don't share their taste, and yeah, the american mindset (of sorts) shows quite often.

ESC Tom is the best for me (with ESC united's channel a very close second), Tom is really good at showing and interpreting data. There's more to his analysis than just the usual "gut feeling + personal preference + bubble's influence", which I appreciate a lot.

That's true, but he sometimes gets so reliant on data that he can't come around common sense 🤣

Some examples were his 2021 predicitions and the other from last year when after that juries scandal he still insisted on keeping the juries and feeling sorry for Azerbaycan because he deserved to qualify.

I mean, really, is it common sense that an entry with literally ZERO televotes, like an entry NOONE WANTS TO HEAR EVER AGAIN, is a deserved qualifier?

No. I mean absolutely NO. The show is here for us, not for the juries.

And eventually it's us who decide which of these artists will be successful by buying their music, streaming their songs, buying tickets for their concerts. Not the juries.

And if there is a person who actually voted for Azerbaycan last year, bought a ticket to see him, streamed his song even once after the contest, I swear if you find that person I'm gonna come to Liverpool, interrupt Let 3's Mama ŠČ performance and show my boobs to whole Europe on BBC live.

Please don’t. I am sure your boobs are magnificent, but I do appreciate a stage-Invasion-free contest.

Was about to tag you... although as a backup there was also a friend at our watch party who saw Eurovision for the first time in her life and went absolutely bananas about the song, had it as her n°1 and almost started crying after those 3 points from the public :D

So, Polly... ;) IOTAP

True, but he also called the spade a spade and went on to call out the cheating parties as the clear responsible culprits. He correctly saw that the cheating was actually present based on the data and didn't downplay it with words like "alleged cheating", unlike so many others who refuse to accept basic laws of statistics (*cough* Jan Bors *cough*) :)

Probably would've voted for it if I could

Did stream it a lot of times

Now go interrupt Let 3's performance and save our ears from that disaster of a song
