Do you think the winning song was already selected? I still think there is nothing screaming winner to me. The songs I get more winning vibes are  :ch: and maybe :lt::ro:

With so many ballads, I have a feeling we will get an up-tempo winner this year.

Latvia? xqueenbitch

Or Cicciolina?

EDIT: I forgot we have juries...

Juries will underrate both maybe
The year is getting more balanced than in the few last weeks, I think we have the same amount of ballads and uptempo songs and we have some midtempo too...
I'm missing a real uptempo that gives me winning vibes, I see :lt: as the most appealing so far (it's catchy but I also find it professional) ... I would put :is: here if the song was not dated (and pretty weak imo) and I want to believe juries will do their job and not give points to this xyaay... They are bad sometimes but I need them

xcryxcryxcryxcryDon't give me hope...

"Human" will instantly make televoters picking up their phones and get easy 480 points, then we just need a couple of points from Sweden Germany and a few eastern european countries and that's it :ROFLMAO:

Well, tbh I'm not confident we are talking about a winning song, if selected and with a good staging it may finish very high with televote, maybe juries will be tired to listen to ballads and midtempo and vote decently for it too...

But we all know Ben & Tan will be selected and things will happen the opposite way :( :( :( :(

I strongly believe this year's big contender to the victory will be known after rehearsals. The year is getting very unpredictable imo.

I'm more confident on "Human" after they revealed it will be 100% televote in the Superfinal, but we never now... Danish viewers like "sweet and innocent songs".

However, a danish eurovision expert is sure that "Human" will get a lot of points from Southern and Eastern Europe, if it gets choosen. I really hope so. And the running order is in their favor!

I will answer in the Danish thread

I think for now its the most open year we had in a long time... :lt: and :is: for example look like potential top 5 songs but winning? I can't really imagine that. I can't really name any clear contenders for now.

I think we still need to wait for :ru: :bg: and maybe also :mt:. :se: might even by out of the top 10 this year.

For now top 5 candidates but no clear contenders for the win are: :lt: :is: :gr: :il:. Top 10 potential: :rs: :ch: :ge: :cz: :ro:  :be: :de: :it:

Following my initial assessment of the competition, so far the reveals are still quite underwhelming. Only Germany has truly shocked me. Israel is definitely serving it, the 4 songs are really good. I would be happy with any choice.

My buckets of songs so far:
"Excellent" - None
"Good" - Lithuania, Germany, Australia (Upgraded), Albania (Upgraded)
"Decent" - Norway, Spain, Belgium, United Kingdom, Italy (Upgraded)
"Mediocre" - France, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Ukraine
"Bad" - Latvia, Armenia

After a week of new releases and now I gave a proper listen to all the entries again (at least twice), here is my bucket of the 30 songs released so far:

"Excellent" - Israel, Iceland, Germany (Upgraded)
"Good" - Romania, Belarus, Switzerland, Lithuania, Australia, Albania, Norway (Upgraded), Belgium (Upgraded)
"Decent" - Georgia, The Netherlands, Spain, Greece, United Kingdom, Italy, Ukraine (Upgraded)
"Mediocre" - France, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, Ireland, Austria, Estonia, Croatia
"Bad" - Latvia, Armenia, Serbia, Moldova

Due to the coronavirus, perhaps Eurovision 2020 will be the first contest held without audience? I just hope they don’t cancel it, even if it means 2021 would be the most dynamic year ever
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced today that preparations for the music festival are ongoing. Various scenarios are being considered, but it is too early to speculate on possible decisions, the EBU said. The speculations are fueled by a confirmed virus infection of an Geneva EBU employee. A team member had tested positive for the virus last week after visiting Northern Italy. According to the EBU, several colleagues at the headquarters in Geneva are therefore in quarantine at home.

I think the winner is not yet in the race.

Russia, Bulgaria, Sweden and Malta can still claim the clear frontrunner status.

Dotter wins lol.

Like. If Sweden *want* to win, all they need to do is pick Dotter and she will *easily* win Eurovision for them.

There's really no other winner option available atm. Perhaps Victoria, perhaps Destiny, perhaps Little Big. But of the acts we've heard?

Definitely Dotter.

oh and if Dotter doesn't win Melfest, I think it might be Iceland who win instead. I don't really *consider* "Think about things" winner material in its current state, but nearly universal positive response in foreign media is always a good indicator. Salvador and Netta (two atypical winners) had the same thing going for them. People respond well to it upon first sight. A quality ever Eurovision winner has.

I actually think Semi 2 is really strong.

I already have all these countries I want to qualify:

Albania
Poland
Serbia
Czech republic
Greece
Switzerland
Iceland
Latvia
Armenia

That's 9...

And we still have Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland and San Marino to come...

I don't think Portugal will choose something I like.

Some good entries WILL be left behind.

Personally, I think that semi 2 is rather weak. I just want 5 countries to qualify whilst I already wanna see 7 to qualify in semi 1 and there are still Russia, Azerbaijan, Sweden, North Macedonia and Malta to come Oo
Also, juries will probably push Australia again and I can see Norway qualify easily.. Thus, I will definitely be disappointed and have to let got 3-5 favourites whilst most songs in semi 2 are simply not my cup of tea. It will be definitely a really difficult experience for me because I consider so many entries to be utterly trashy: Latvia, Armenia, Greece, Serbia, Estonia, Moldova and probably San Marino (I only did like "Complice". Valentina 2014/2015 was "acceptable")... at least, I don't have to fear that Switzerland won't be making it (it's currently the only song which I ranked higher than :7: in this semi).

So far I also prefer semi 2 (and my top 2 is in semi 1). But then again as I'm not enjoying this year both still look bad to me
