By "funny", I meant "natural without being so dead-serious from beginning to end". Apparently, there is a funny one in the team (Filomena Cautela), so if they plan to joke a little - which is likely - I hope it won't look and sound as forced as in recent years.
I ain't here for farcical presenters either, yet I think they should look relatively likeable and natural: Eurovision remains a party after all. Anke Angelke managed to do that perfectly back in 2011 imo, so it's not infeasible.
As for Hasnaoui, she precisely came across as a bit repressed to me. She was very professional for sure, but she couldn't let go despite her attempts to do so.
I agree, I don't think ESC should turn into a circus where the hosts/hostesses are mocking it or something, but there should still be some humor there (coming from the right place), otherwise it's simply too stiff and boring wheres we should be entertained as viewers. I think you can be fun and professional at the same time, unfortunate it's easier said than done.
I think with Mede you simply need to "get" the humor she's aiming for, she's also quite polarizing in Sweden. I think alot of people that didn't follow her career doesn't get that she's taking on this "stage persona" that is supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek take on "big Divas", she comes from a background of stand-up-comedy so it is a bit sarcastic and purposely over-the-top, but yeah I can get that it can turn some people off, I however find her the best hostess we have in Sweden though and surely one of the best ESC hosts ever... oh well
Anyways this is about 2018 and she has nothing to do with that
I will have to wait and see what the Portuguese hostesses will look like on stage, so far they give a bit of "girly-ish" and "wannabe American" impression, but we'll see... like I wrote earlier, most hosts/hostesses for the past decade were either forcing themselves to be funny (without any authenticity or professionalism to pull it off) or they were just full-blooded amateurs... surely it can't get much worse so I'm hopeful based on what I've seen so far that this time around it will be atleast decent.
