I actually liked the 4 presenters that Austria had. Neither would be able to stand on their own, but they all brought their best performance and lifted each other up. Conchita was an absolute entertaining professional ofcourse.

For me, last year's hosts left a lot to desire. I'm not sure how to put my finger on it, maybe there was an unbalance in the trio or that they all just tried to hard with their comedy?

He could never present Eurovision... He said some homophobic stuff in the past so I guess Eurovision would not be for him

Nobody mentioned Måns? What year is it!!!

I like the profiles of the 2018 presenters, 4 people is quite a lot, so I hope each one of them will have a clear role throughout the shows. Vienna 2015 was too much in this regard, none of them (except Conchita) were convincing and it was useless to have them all all the time.

I really hope the script writers will do their job properly so that these four women can shine and stand out (and be REALLY funny for once...). Also, I hope there'll be some kind of chemistry between them, I'd rather have an efficient and friendly team than a mere accumulation of divas playing solo.

I appreciate that they're all big in their fields of expertise and apparently complementary. This is looking good! Nice job RTP!

Well I don't think the host must be funny... thst's actually what I didn't like from 2013 and 2016, trying too hard to be funny, underestimating the audience.
Hosts can be entertaining yet classy without silly script jokes or addressing the whole arena like a crowd of Circuit Festival.
Jaana Pelkonen in 2007 or Nadia Hasnaoui in 2010 kept it classy yet they were fun to watch. Some interval acts can do the 'funny job' if needed... all what I expect from a host is to be efficient and natural.

I also think Nadia Hasnaoui was one of the best hostesses. Nowadays, hosts became more and more comedy acts on stage, and especially Petra Mede, of whom I am not a fan neither, made it look like Eurovision was all about herself. I think that Sarah Dawn Finer would have been a much better hostess, because she seems less stiff and more natural.

My absolute favourites were the Finns in 2007 and the Danes of 2014. They made it seem like there was no script, but a natural flow of events. Cheerful and very pleasant.

The Latvians of 2003 I want to honorably mention as well.

I pity that Mirjam and Arabella got such leading roles in 2015, since they are just red carpet hostesses and interviewers. Mirjam looked very uneasy and spooked and Arabella overplayed. They should have done the green room jobs, while Conchita and Alice should have run the show.

I've liked all the hosts in the last years except 2012 and I think this year will be the same :D

Azerbaijan is another example of hosts in wrong roles. The half-Danish green room hostess was the only one capable of proper English, so they should have let her host it all. Leyla was cute but awkward and Ell was just awkward.

Finland had the best Hosts, the worst was Sakis Wife (?). So annoying how she was always interrupting the spokespersons, and she exaggerated it with her "amazing".

I feel so bad for her, she didn't look like she was having a good time at all. She was a bit annoying but Sakis and his ego took centre stage and pushed her to the side.

The ideal hosts would be like Jaana and Mikko, really they were charming and funny and sweet and professional yet warm as well. I liked Renars and Maria in 2003 but they felt too scripted. Nadia Hasnaoui was alright but she felt a bit too professional and formal, Erik and Haddy were underutilised in 2010. On a personal level I really enjoyed Maria in 2005 and Annely in 2002 for their strange voices.

Petra is one of the worst ever. I don't see anything special about her and in fact she annoys the hell out of me. She tries too hard and her facial expressions just eww... can't stand her.
I know it's not a popular opinion among eurofans though and everyone have their own favourites. It's not a fact she is the worst either she is the best ever, those are just our point of views.

From these Portuguese women, I only know Filomena and I have even watched some videos of her show, not a fan of such formats but she's at least natural, smart and charismatic. It can't be a bad sign.

Each to their own of course, it's about taste and personal preferences in the end of the day, she is certainly not for everyone, she has a quite eccentric humor and style but she has far more personality than most hosts had combined, but those people tend to be quite polarizing, but I'm still surprised someone would find her worse than those mediocre hosts we've seen throughout the years.

The Portuguese ladies seem to be ok, but they seem to lack personality and are very standard but we'll see, atleast they seem better than some of the mediocre mess we seen throughout the years.

By "funny", I meant "natural without being so dead-serious from beginning to end". Apparently, there is a funny one in the team (Filomena Cautela), so if they plan to joke a little - which is likely - I hope it won't look and sound as forced as in recent years.

I ain't here for farcical presenters either, yet I think they should look relatively likeable and natural: Eurovision remains a party after all. Anke Angelke managed to do that perfectly back in 2011 imo, so it's not infeasible.

As for Hasnaoui, she precisely came across as a bit repressed to me. She was very professional for sure, but she couldn't let go despite her attempts to do so.

So with 19 slots open in SF1 and 18 in SF2, that means the last country remaining in pot 1 will automatically go to SF1

Yaas! The allocation draw will happen soon now xcheer

When are we supposed to know the host's starting position in the final? Is it before the Eurovision week or the day after the first semi? xthink I don't remember.

Usually the host country's position is drawn during the HoD meetings in March
