My source is an editor for Eurovision.tv, they actually confirmed 44 had applied for certain and then Montenegro announced their withdrawal. Slovakia is in so far, but until they announce the final list countries can pretty much still withdraw. Plus EBU has been negotiating with the Slovakian broadcaster.

I see. But the final list should be ready already? Wasn't the EBU deadline 20th something? Are they still negotiating or what?

Who knows apparently the list is due sometime after New Years and Slovakia seems to be definitely in for 2011. The guy I got the info from is a volunteer editor so I think he just gets info in passing.

That sounds like a great news :D I'm totally happy to hear it

I loved their super UNDERRATED entries from 2009 and 2010 :D

Me too!

And I agree with SUPER UNDERRATED!

Unfortunately they were always underrated :( Also in 1996, 1998 they had great entries but finished in the bottom :(

I really hope they won't withdraw though.

@A-Lister: We can only keep our fingers crossed now. Nela and Kamil had wonderful vocals too :D

How come none of the Slovak reconsideration news have made it on fan sites? Is it like a super secret deal that's being arranged or something lol. Or do they have an epic surprise for us?

What I don't get is that Liechtenstein applied so the number of applications should be 45. I really hope Slovakia are back :)

Maybe also important:

The Semi-Final Allocation Draw, which determines in which Semi-Final each country will participate, will be held on the 17th of January in Düsseldorf, during the Host City Insignia Exchange

Well, we already know Israel is in semi 2. I'm very happy no one has withdrawn and we also have 4 amazing returns, though it'd have been really nice to improve the record to let's say 44 (would've happened, had Montenegro remained on the list). I'm still happy that Italy's in the BIG 5, so we could have a 25-country final and next year - possibly a 26 one (in the even of a non-BIG-5-country win).

I'm totally happy with the line up of the participants. Slovakia is in after all ;) Italy is definitely a country that has interested even the non-fans of Eurovision, so it's a great thing that they returned.
