Congratulations to :hr: I am very happy for you! :D I said from the start that this is a good team and that people only need to believe in it and that it will pay off :D :hr: plays great on this tournament and you definetly deserve a medal!

As for us - Even despite the horrible massacre we suffered from :es: 2 days ago, I am not angry at the players that much as this is far more than anyone expected with this team. So, I am happy that we secured 1/4 finals and I will be happy if we secure the World championship next year. If not, I will be happy with 8th place but we can't speak of any success on the championship in that case. Although, knowing our mentality, we will lose tomorrow as well.......

The only thing I can't really understand is why was the psychological preparation of the team so bad that we literally ripped our pants down even before the match began (as soon as I saw how the players look at the :es: players I knew that it will be a heavy demolition as they couldn't....), and it looked like everyone had "F**k us as much as you want" written on their forehead. I understand that there was a pressure of knock-out match and that it is a young team and all........but what I don't understand is that we completely surrendered and let them humiliate us like that and slaughter us like pigs in the stockyard.

The match was lost in the first 2 minutes when they made a 8-0 series. We made too many mistakes, we were even losing balls from our own hands, and all of that was turned into points from the :es: team. They didn't play much different than against :it: at that time, but we were contused from fear and didn't exist on the field. And of course later they got relaxed, the hand was softened and they had a easy shooting training. They weren't that good in the degree to which we were terrible.

I can't be angry because of the defeat but I am angry that they didn't show any will or desire to at least try to stop this historical debacle and that they surrendered before the fight began. Nobody pressured them that they must win, they should have felt no pressure at all, as they were already outsiders, they just had to try and surprise, nothing more. Never in our history did we have -40 at one point, and if :es: wanted they could have s**t and urinated on us even more and outclass us with +50 or +60. Obviously, they are not THAT better, and the result is unrealistic, but it is not non-logical considering what was happening on the field.

Yesterday's defeat from :sl: was also expected, as that is a part of our mentality, we repeated a terrible performance from the match with :es: and we were even less interested than in the previous match, so it is no wonder why we lost with -18. During the match I was laughing (because I reached the state where I can't be even angry anymore) at what kind of silly things we are doing during the match, how much some players don't know the basic basketball principles...........

I will say some things after the tournament, but not at this point as tomorrow we are playing our "little final" for 7th place and the World Championship against, I guess, :ua: again. Support is needed, but after that I will analyze everything.

Today is the most important match for us... we've never reached EuroBasket final, so I'm really hoping for a good result. But coming this far was unexpected so it's already a big success. GO CROATIA!!! xcheer

Congrats Lietuva! :D Amazing job. I'll cheer for you in the final! xcheer
BUT our guys did an amazing job on this tournament! Reaching final four in so many years, wow. Finally I can say basketball has returned to Croatia, maybe this will improve our league and performance of our teams in other tournaments. Very well done and good luck for Bronze match! :D

OK. OK. We lost by the better rival, it is obvious. It could be better for us maybe but.....this all happened after 18 years. 18 LONG YEARS WE WERE NOT IN THE FIGHT FOR MEDAL!
Now, good luck for bronze....with Spain.
Guys, we are already proud of you.:)

So now Lithuania vs. France!! Who would have expected that particular duel for the final? The irony is that Serbia outplayed both of them and they will fight vs. Italy for a spot in the World Championship next year.
Interestingly enough, Lithuania played against almost all ex-yus (except Slovenia), and they won over Croatia easy compared to the other ones (which they either lost or barely got them). I mean, this whole championship is full with irony and hard to predict it. The bookies have earned more than the people who bet on these games.
Go Croatia tomorrow, and go Lithuania!! :D Oh and go Serbia too!! 7th place will be a place up from where you were 2 years ago.

Too bad that :hr: didn't make it :( Sadly :lt: was just too strong. They an amazing 3rd quarter, made the difference and then it was impossible to come back. It will be tough now against :es: in the match for bronze medal, but I think they aren't chanceless. :es: has shown that they are beatable so if they enter the match in the right way (one of the ways is the one that I mentioned for our match with them), it could be a tight match and then everything is possible. They deserve a medal, for sure.

And I am really happy that :es: was knocked out by :fr: :D They were punished for their calculations, and as we didn't make them pay, :fr: did. :es: victory over us was glorified too much, as, even though they did play good, they weren't THAT good in the way we didn't exist on the field. Everything that came after was just a consequence of the previous fact...........Spain has a lot of weaknesses on this tournament and all of them were shown yesterday. Once again, well done :fr: :D

So now Lithuania vs. France!! Who would have expected that particular duel for the final? The irony is that Serbia outplayed both of them and they will fight vs. Italy for a spot in the World Championship next year.

Oh and go Serbia too!! 7th place will be a place up from where you were 2 years ago.

Yeah, that's life......at least we have a satisfcation that we beated both the European champion and the vice-champion  :D

Thanks :D I think the chances against :it: are small now, and much smaller than they would have been if we played for the semi, like we should have. We are in a huge psychological fall, and Ivkovic, sadly, never managed to recover the team on this plan. Even if we lose, it will still be an ok result, but we can't say that it is successful as well, because we didn't secure the world championship.

Just like I said before, the key to win the match is to stop the Italian shot for 3 points. Their inner play is pretty weak and readable, but this shot is the strongest weapon. And of course, Belineli from the individual players. If we stop that, we will be closer to the victory, but I don't give us high chances.

Congratulations, Željko:)!

Well, I heard today that one of our most important players, Damir Markota, won't play against Spain tomorrow for 3 rd place...:(....this could a very big problem for our team.....many players suffer from injuries for longer time, and it came out now.....hm it will be a tough game, it's only sure. I would like for us to reach the bronze, after all this, I think we deserved it.....and we really need some joy here......so go Croatia tomorrow.....

We defeated :it: , and thus qualified to the next world championship from the 7th place :D The primary goal is achieved and I am satisfied. We can't speak of a huge success because basketball is our national sport and we always aim for the top, but this is, more or less, our reality. It could have been better but also worse. If we didn't run up into :es: who was calculating, we would have played the match for the medal, but as I said, the primary goal was to achieve the WC, and we managed to do it, so the mission is successful.

As for the match, we entered with much more aggression and desire to win from the start. We managed to stop their strongest weapon (the shot) and by playing a great and fast defense we didn't allow them any points from the racquet and were also forcing them to choose tough solutions for scoring, and, at the same time, open the chance for our counter attacks. We limited Belineli and Datome to a reasonable amount of points and as a result of this we were controlling the match all the time and it was only a question of how much points will we have at the end of the match and with what difference will we win.

Now there is enough time for analysis until the next World Championship, and I will also give out my analysis of our participation, what was good and what wasn't (from tactical aspect as well), and some of my clues for further work and preparation for Mundobasket in :es: .

We did it, finally. Our major goal before this champ was started was that qualification for WC and we did it. And we all knows that medal is just a dream with this young team. So I'm very satisfied with our results.

And tomorrow I really really hope that Croatia can won against Spain and take that bronze medal. They really deserve that medal. And as I expect Lithuania is in final, and I'm betting on them tomorrow.
