I don't see it that unlikely. :es: is already qualified and :ua: is not that bad. It was the same situation in 2012 with :se: and :nl:

Qualified teams: :fr: :en: :cz: :is: :at: :pt: ::ulst :es: :ch: :it: :be: :wale: :ro: :al: :de: :pl: -> 16/24 xbow

Tonight the the groups C, E & G will have their last matches. This group portion has been the least attractive for me through the qualification campaign, especially group C & E with its dominating big teams Spain & England and all these unattractive and not really competitive teams like Belarus, Macedonia, Estonia and Lithuania.

But since it's the last match day also these groups suddenly become interesting.
:sk: is supposed to qualify easily by a win against Luxembourg. Even if the surprising loss against Belarus decreased their self-confidence the quality will be big enough.
As it was said before :ua: would have great chances to qualify as the best 3rd place if they beat Spain. I think it's possible if Spain lacks of motivation and dont give everything they got. Ukraine are not 100% safe after winning this match, neither is Hungary in case of Ukraine failing. All depends on what happens in Group A in the match between Latvia and Kazakhstan.

In Group E more ore less everything is decided (I don't take San Marino seriously)

In Group G Russia needs only a point against Montenegro, this is a doable task for them.

My prediction for qualifiers: :sk: & :ru: :ua:

Moreover, I somehow think that :ua: will win tomorrow

They're still a very weak team, but they're much better than they were a few years ago. There are a lot of pathetic teams in North America or Oceania which would be annihilated by San Marino.

Also in Asia, I'm aware of this ;)

However, the only possibility to Slovenia to lose their 3rd place would be a loss against San Marino and this will not happen. I can promise that. :D That's why I didn't feel the need to even post the possibility of Slovenia losing this match. My sentence about San Marino was only refered of the current situation of this group.
San Marino might be good enough to beat minor teams of different confederations as well as European teams like Andorra & Gibraltar. Also I recognized their improvements, the draw against Estonia and the almost draw against Lithuania.
Still Slovenia is like 3 categories above San Marino that's why I rule the possibility out that San Marino beat them (which would mean that Estonia can catch Slovenia up)

:ua: has now 19 points, same as :sk:. :sk: plays again :lu:, so 105% wins. :ua: has to win over :es: then and have chances to qualify from 2nd place.

xcrossed for :ua:

From UEFA site

• If Ukraine defeat Spain and Slovakia beat Luxembourg, Ukraine will finish third behind Slovakia on head-to-head record. However, Ukraine will have 16 points (removing matches against whichever side finishes sixth out of Luxembourg and FYR Macedonia) and will move ahead of Hungary in the reckoning.

• If Ukraine win, Slovakia draw and FYR Macedonia beat Belarus to move into fifth place, Slovakia will end in third and have 16 points not counting results against Luxembourg, who will finish bottom. However, if FYR Macedonia do not win, they would finish bottom, and Slovakia would have only 14 points against the top five and would go into the play-offs with Hungary remaining in pole position.

so if Ukraine defeat Spain, it will be best 3rd placer

:sm: 0-2 :sl:

Ever since Novaković got injured, (58th minute in switzerland) switzerland scored three goals and then won the match. We also played below average against estonia and absolutely awful against lithuania and san marino. xgaah
Thankfully, he'll be ready to play in november. He's not worth much in transfermarket, but to our team,he's gold.

p.s. slovenia is the only country to score a goal against england

:hu: is not sure yet (even though I think they will be the best 3rd place.

It was mentioned before few times: Turkey can still catch them up

They can reach 18 points in total by defeating Iceland. As long as Kazakhstan stay on last place Turkey get 6 points deducted cause they won both matches against Kazakhstan. However, if Kazakhstan beat Latvia and Latvia will be the last place there is only a deduction of 2 points for Turkey cause they drew twice against Latvia.
18 minus 2 = 16, this would carry them on first rank of the 3rd place ranking.

I don't think this will happen but as long it's not sure I won't congratulate :hu: especially since they would probably fail in the play-offs. Becoming the best 3rd place would be the best thing that can happen to this team.

Congrtaulations to :sk: xup and :ru:

But i'm sure that :tr: will play in the playoff, because Kazakhstan will be beated in Latvia as they will be playing in home, so :hu: will QF in 90% as best thrid place :)

That's basically what I think as well. Okay, I predict that Latvia and Kazakhstan will play 0:0, which wouldn't be enough for Turkey either.

I just congratulate the teams when they are 100% safe. As we know, in football anything can happen :D

Btw, I would be happy for Hungary because it used to be a big football nation which unfortunately became insiginificant in European football :( They are lucky because their group was a joke and they're also lucky that Greece become last place instead of Faroe Islands. But it wil be nice to see this team in the European championships.

How old is Milivoje nowadays? And he is still such important for Slovenia?

But usually the joke groups are very balanced and Hungary is not that strong that they easily beat Finland or Greece. In the end I think it's all deserved for Hungary. There comes a situation way more unfair in the WC qualification when the worst 2nd have no chance to qualify and most times it's the balanced groups with more than 2 possible contenders for the WC spot.

For :ie: to get a good draw in the play-offs this Sunday (to get seeded) we hope for :hu: to remain best third place team, :il:/:cy: to pass out :ba: (i.e. for :ba: to lose), and  losing to :it:.

(I think :hr: beating :mt: is a given)

Some of our good players will not be able to play in the first leg of these games and Shane Long is injured (he is one of our main strikers, who scored the goal against :de:). Let us hope for the best xpray.

Balanced yes, but on a low level. For the tension it's of course nice to have groups like this. In the past there were groups which were considered weak but at least didn't have a real underdog. For example Iceland's qualification group for the WC 2014. The best team was only Switzerland but then again the worst team was Cyprus which is an okayish team as we see today. I see a difficulty in these kind of groups because there are no "safe" 6 points like in other groups where Andorra, San Marino are in.

However, in Hungary's group there are the Faroe Islands and the team that is supposed to be the best is failing dramatically. Greece standing on last place isn't an evidence for the strength of this group cause they lost both matches against the Faroe and nobody will convince me that Faroe Islands is a good team.

Looking at Hungary.. in fact, they beat two teams: Finland & Faroe Islands. From the 6 matches against Romania, Northern Ireland and Greece they didn't win a single one. Still they are going to qualify directly most probably. After all, for me the away win against Finland was the only achievement of Hungary cause it's not that easy to defeat Finland away.
Even though the whole post looks like a complaint I don't wanna complain at all. Just if I was a supporter of one of the other third-placed teams that were in a harder group I would feel like it's unfair how easy Hungary is gonna qualify. Because I think they had an easy path and lucky circumstances.

I personally like to see teams like Hungary in a big competition because they've never been there since I watch football. Last time they qualified for a big tournament I wasn't even born. It's always refreshing to see new teams on a big stage. So if they make it I wish good luck xup

I just read in an article on Croatian news website that about 380 Croatian hooligans have arrived on Malta and are planning to interrupt and stop the game
