Yeah, yeah, conspiracy... We paid the referee, but don't tell Angela Merkel ;)

The referee wasn't THAT bad, if you want to see what is a bad referee, watch the South Korea matches back at the 2002 World Cup.

I haven't watched any of the matches last night but I see the referee provoked quite an uproar in here, but seriously...what had you expected? Referees always favour big teams so it's nothing new really. You see it in Champions League as well as here. We were robbed a penalty just 3-4 minutes before Germany scored their second goal, so who knows what might have happened if the referee hadn't been shite.

Nonetheless, cheering for Germany, England, and Czech Republic. They are the only teams left I really like.
Also hoping for Portugal to have a quick exit, really dislike most of their players (Ronaldo, Nani, the list goes on) + I'm still superbitter that they qualified instead of us.

No,really,Italy scored 2 goals , all from breaks. But Ireland had few real chances
Actually we played well. I was quite proud of it really, it was exactly the sort of the performance I hope we'd play in all of our matches - with passion. We should have scored, but the result wasnt really important. We went out on a high, which after the first 2 matches is all we could really ever hope for.

EDIT: I just reread the post that you said Ireland were better than Italy, I misreead that as 'Ireland were bitter', hence the rant. Sorry

+1000000 That was beyond limit. Everyone who played to South Korea was robbed (Poland, Portugal, Italy, Spain...)

It is true, but I don't think Spain was favored in yesterday's match, although it does suck when you get eliminated by a goal from offside. Both active and passive off sides existed in the scoring action, but it wasn't intentional. It is a shame that :hr: is eliminated as they have shown much more than :it: on this championship, and they deserved to be in the second round.

The :fr: case from 2010 was something different however. When we look at the fact how they got to the championship, and that the team that played there was selected based on their horoscopes......they got what they there looking for. Sport is always severely righteous. It returns the same amount of work you put into it - sooner or later. And nothing happens by accident.

Naah, it really wasn't that obvious, but anyway, it wouldn't have helped you ;)
Here, everybody says, that was the revenge for the Wembley Goal back in... 1966, 1968 (?), where Germany scored such a goal and it didn't count :D

Without any repeats of the scene, nobody would have know what really happened - The referee obviously didn't know it either

Permutations for tonight. This is nowhere near as confusing as the last 3 groups...

:fr:
France will qualify if they
  • dont lose to Sweden
  • lose to Sweden and England dont lose to Ukraine
  • lose to Sweden and England lose by 2 goals or more

:en:
England will qualify if they
  • dont lose to Ukraine
  • lose to Ukraine and Sweden beat France by two more goals (ie England lose 1-0, France lose 3-0)

:ua:
Ukraine will qualify if they
  • beat England

I still don't understand why won't they introduce a rule for the referees to look at video footage if there are doubts.
