I hope it was the spinning-in-the-storm effect that gave Estonia a place in the final, because at least it would make up for all the stress they went through to get this done in rehearsals (and it didn't even look that amazing imo). I guess it turned out well being the 'mainstream buffer' between Iceland and Portugal. Unless it reaches top 4, it's another finalist that won't be making much history.

I'm starting to feel it was the juries who pulled it through. He probably gave a better performance in their show and they ranked it high for its basic Swedish sound and radio-friendliness. Considering the song is not doing anything on YT, I think it's similar to Austria 2018 - they also bombed on YT and it reflected the actual results well.

San Marino, on the other hand, must have had a huge public support to make it. This is how they sneaked in.

Rewatched the performance.

His first chorus was horrid. Literally hurts my ears. And the poor guy is destroying his vocal cords with the screaming, just listen to the ending part where his voice is on the verge of cracking. It's not healthy for him, he should have gotten a vocal coach for his own sake.

I would say we were 10th but then again, San Marino also qualified. Either Victor or Serhat owe a thanks to Maruv.

I see it differently. His voice is not on the verge of cracking, he just does not even get close to where he needs/wants to be with this note. But thats not even on him, but the whole team in general. You have to be aware of your abilities. When I hear this I feel like watching a high-jumper putting on a world record height and then jumping safely below the bar. It is just sad and stupid ...

But I feel happy for Victor. From here any result is already a positive outcome.

It was worse really.

He was very off-key during his jury performance. It has to be public that saved us.

It might not be reliable, but he's the qualifier with the least amount of YT views as of now (15k+ when 7 qualifiers are above 50k) xthink That's strange.

Well Serhat was barely singing and off-key as well... and they both made it. Sometimes charisma, charming, and a catchy chorus are enough to make the homework.

Quoting my own post:

iTunes is dead though. no one uses it anymore, it's near to be shut down. and Storm is charting in countries that could not even vote tonight.
La Forza did not do anything on iTunes after the semi but in reality got more televotes than Israel. So, Spotify will be more telling.

YT tends to be more accurate btw. I remember Birgit doing nothing on Youtube after qualifying and looking at the results, it makes perfect sense why.

I think Victor Crone is really charismatic which is why I had this one down as a qualifier. The singing is dodgy but he gives it his all. Compare this to its nearest musical rival, Finland. There's no contest. One entry was asleep. The other was fighting. Not surprised at all Estonia made it. It's kind of growing on me a bit.

We all underestimated it`s instant-appeal, me thinks. My boyfriend (who is not part of the ESC bubble by any means) ranked this as his number 1 in the Semi after the performance so this might have done better in the televoting than we all expected.

Round of applause for the backing vocalists, they did a LOT of heavy lifting. Pleased it came together for them after what must have been a frustrating week of rehearsals tho!

The long high note really doesn't make sense though. Why do they push for it. What is its purpose? For people to be like "wow, what an impressive note"?? That's just ridiculous, he can't pull it off, it only hurts him, and even if he can make it sound decent, it's still nothing impressive. All these dumb embellishes just to make it more powerful or whichever are just that, dumb.

I'm really pleased that Estonia made it, I like the song but honestly that performance was painful to watch, I really felt sorry for Victor because you could see he was aware he was out of tune and screaming like a hungry cat. His reaction when he announced as one of the qualifiers is priceless. Well done Estonia, but I hope they fix it for the Final.

Apparently Estonia was top 3 with the Belarusian jury. Here we go.

I can't believe it's the weakest vocal performance Estonia has sent in years (if not ever) and now of all times it's the juries who might have saved it. bombing televoting favorites like GTY but saving songs like Rockefeller Street and Storm..
Saturday will be exciting. Despite me still strongly disliking the song.

Very standard, but I like it. Kind of. We have been made to listen to excerpts of this song during the ESC commercials, so I can tell you the full thing is considerably better.

The most undeserved qualiier. Just awful, if juries supported this mess then they should be scrapped immediately. Verona and even Play were much better...

Austria 2018 was actually 5th in their semi televotes tho' (and 13th in the final), so they didn't really bomb as such. I do remember wondering how a song that was doing so well on iTunes was getting so few YT views. Perhaps it's a demographics kind of thing? Casual/older voting audience, who are less likely to rewatch YT vids after the show? But then, who were all the people buying it online? It's a mystery!

Well, not long until we find out what's what. Storm could have been a jury save, but I don't think it did that poorly in televotes either. While iTunes might have few customers these days, I would think even a small sample size is some indication. Not that I expect we won the semi televotes or anything. But I don't see us being 12th+ either. Perhaps 8th-11th in either ranking? It'll be interesting to see! :D

Once again, his vocals didn't really sound that bad to me. He's clearly straining & gets sort of quiet at times, but it didn't come off as him going way off key or something (unlike Serhat). I think it kind of straddles the line of "almost acceptable". Which might have helped with the juries. The long notes and keychanges were unnecessary, but well, he managed to make the final regardless so whatever I guess. I doubt they'll change it for the final, but you never know. Maybe now that the biggest hurdle has been overcome, he'll be more relaxed and make the most of his last performances. :D Not like he has the burden of being a potential winner either, so he can chill and enjoy the ride.
