Well, I said local jury. Ines came second with both the jury and televoting. If we had used Eesti Laul style 50-50 split in 2006, she would have been the winner.

Wait I'm a bit confused, I thought you said there was an international jury in 2006 instead?

Or there was a local one aswell then?

It was an international jury. Sorry for the confusion. My point is that (local) jury in Eesti Laul is good and necessary. Estonian televoting just can't be trusted enough.

Proof: Rändajad wasn't televoting winner in 2009.

Aha, I get it know, yeah I read it but my comment was directed at the juries back then who obviously weren't any good

Rändajad is one of the best examples of where juries have saved the day, however they did screw Ithaka Maria over... so I'm still in two-minds on the Estonian juries, some of their voting have been a bit odd aswell imo.

 Catchy song. xheya I totally forgot this. Is she still active?

She hadn't done anything before and hasn't done anything since. She's a no-one.

Since I didn't like Hopaparei, I though they did the right thing. What I completely disagreed though was their support for Rockafeller Street which was the only song I disliked more than Hopaparei in that final. It remains the only Eesti Laul winner that I just couldn't support on the ESC stage.

In 2010 jury supported Maagiline päev over Siren but I will never understand what happened with televoting that year. It was a shock win that nobody expected.

?? "Rockefeller Street" won the televote anyway.
And it's not like the jury supported it a lot, it only finished 4th in their voting.

Yeah, I remember you not liking it, but atleast you seem to prefer it to Rockafeller Street, so in the end of the day I guess you'd be more ok with Ithaka than the actual winner? And yes Rockafeller was dreadful, although Hopa... would have been a more polarizing entry (as we can see in the forum aswell), I'm almost confident it would have faired better in ESC than Getter did because atleast it would stand out more.

Wait, the juries chose Rolf over Siren? I had totally forgot... and yeah now re-checking those results I can still not get them.

Yes, but Ithaka was second in televoting, but almost last in the jury votes (which imo was quite telling)... so she didn't even get a fair chance. Rockafeller would have probably won the super-final against Hopa anyways, but hypothetically speaking Ithaka would have still had a chance at winning since we can't say for certain where the supporters of the other entries would have allocated their new votes had it been between Ithaka and Getter in the end.

I think "Rockefeller Street" would still have won.
I like both songs, and maybe I'd even prefer "Hopa pa'rei". That song's biggest flaw though is that it was a bit too repetitive.

Probably so, but one can never be too sure...

I never liked Rockafeller, but I agree that the biggest flaw of Hopa was that it was a bit too repetitive indeed, it desperately needed some sort of bridge or middle 8, but even with that flaw it was still far better than the winner imo.

I think Hopaparei could have had a good change of winning the super final televoting. In 2010, Lenna won the first round televoting but lost in the second, this year the same happened with Grete Paia.

This! That's why I'm saying that the ones screwing Ithaka over was the juries, because who knows what could have actually happened in a super-final?

Lenna not winning over Malcolm Lincoln in 2010 and Grete not winning generally in 2013 is a bit sad in hindsight :(

^^^ Also, were the lines still open while the 'jurors' were screwing H... up ? If so, this might explain why not enough televotes came in to overcome that silly kindergarten freakshow mess in the first round already. Who'd spend money on a number that standeth no chance anyway?

I don't know Lenna's song, but Grete's song is just brilliant in my opinion! I like "Et uusa saaks alguuse" but "Paastke noored hinged" was just a breath of fresh air for the ESC, and I think it would finish inside the top ten in the ESC.
