Re: ESTONIA 2012

I started to be excited from now. I don't know what we'll see. But i want even greater Eesti Laul than the great latest one.
I hope that i watch my favorite preselection with no problem.

Last year, Eesti Laul was my favorit preselection. Many great songs and artists like Getter Jaani and Ithaka Maria.
I hope for another nice NF this year.

This is what I'm hoping every year, but we often don't get it, because our preselection is not "free" selection.

Our pre-jury is mainly consisted of local radio station dj's from R2. (Eesti Laul is ran by R2 manager, so they give a lot of favorism to their friends and favorites)

Sorry, but your statements are rubbish.

There are many Raadio 2 workers in the jury because R2 is probably the biggest radio station in Estonia that plays a wide variety of different music. But the jury also includes people from other radio stations and other fields of music.

The freedom of our selection is in perfect balance. Too much freedom let's people choose complete junk, remember Kreisiraadio?

Also, Eurolaul did not have much freedom either. In fact, often the songs (or at least half of them) were ordered from composers and the winner was chosen by international "expert" jury.

Have you actually been present during the selection procedures? If not don't say that I'm talking rubbish. Seen it first hand how the selection has been fixed previously.

Also if you look at the song selections over the past couple of year, who managed to reach the finals there are atleast half of those who don't deserve to be there. If you know the inner circles of Estonian music scenes, you'd know who backs who in all cases.

Heidi Purga, who's in charge of both Eesti Laul and R2, is dictating everything that actually takes place.

I remember every failure that Estonians have made in ESC selection. There are may failures for the public and also for the international jury. This is why the voting system is changed so many times for us. They experiment with the votes to see what is the best choice. International jury was a better option than local jury because of no connections with the artists or songwriters. No conflict of interests.

As for the songs being ordered from producers. That was the old days with Juhan Paadam in charge and to be honest, it was good. Atleast every year you had a few songs you could listen to and vote for.

I remember only jurors from R2 :/

I would like to have the jury that has members from all largest modern music radio stations (Star FM, Skyplus, SpinFM, PHR, R2, Skyradio, Energy FM, Radio Mania, etc...)

At the moment, it is indeed mostly formed by the "old and known members" - maybe ERR is afraid to experiment? :?

The 2011 selection jury:

- Toomas Puna (Sky+ Radio)
- Owe Petersell (Elmar Radio)
- Erik Morna (Raadio 2)
- Siim Nestor (Eesti Ekspress newspaper)
- Valner Valme (Postimees newspaper)
- Kaupo Karelson (Ruut music production)
- Ingrid Khtla (ETV, producer of "Eesti Top 7")
- Kristo Rajasaare (Tallin Music Week)
- Tauno Aints (Composer & Member of Estonian composers union)
- Dawn Raudsepp (Radio 2)
- Hannaliisa Uusma ("HU?")

The only adequate members of THAT jury were Owe Petersell, Toomas Puna and Tauno Aints because of music knowledge. They're not attached to one type of music.
As for:

- Siim Nestor (Eesti Ekspress newspaper)
- Valner Valme (Postimees newspaper)
- Ingrid Kohtla (ETV, producer of "Eesti Top 7")

They are all connected with R2. Nestor and Valme are hosts in R2 and Kohtla is with ERR which is responsible for R2 also.

Iiris has been signed to EMI Music and her next single Melyse will be released on December 9th. Here's a small preview:

Good for Iiris, and for me this decision is late, she should have been discovered before.
And i have a question for Estonian Esc fans, is it really difficult to find a ticket for any of Eesti Laul nights? Especially i want grand final, but i'd go for a semi too.
Do you have any predictions for how difficult watching Eesti Laul in Tallinn Concert Hall is, and how much ticket costs ? When tickets are started to be sold ? I'd appreciate for any reply.

Just tried to find out for you about it, but nothing has been stated officially about where those will take place.
