I Hope Europe would not vote that way too.
only 7 % for Albania? strange

Not shocked about Israel because the whole anti-Israeli behaviour probably caused more people to send sympathy votes. I don't think that they will get so many votes on Saturday though.

Are we sure that those numbers are the actual televotes and not let's say social media activity or such?

With the way the Israeli delegation was so cocky about the great result they gonna get, it’s quite fishy this result! Oh well, you got what you asked for EBU!

Oh I think they will. Italy is a big country; it’s going to be replicated from Ukraine to Ireland. I can now see Israel storming the televote, even though the song’s a bit crap, but flopping with the juries.

I assume that Latvia is 10th tonight, but is Denmark 11th?
Malta, pin me on this. I've never seen a country with 14% in odds qualify in the last 10 years. RoW vote helped for sure, but most important said I also mentioned was the amount of joke busy entries. You automatically get noticed by people that don't watch all, but suddenly people hear a song and think "oh, hey, a quiet song". Malta probably Q'd in hindsight with a better running order.

I'm still against cutting the juries though. CZ sang fantastically, but drunk people just vote for fun songs.

Regarding the running order: "Producers' choice" means they have a bigger influence on the result of the contest?
It means the producers can put them wherever they want. So if they think they are a strong contender to win they'll get a good spot. If they think it doesn't stand a chance it will get a bad spot.

An Israel win would be bad news for next year's contest. We'd likely lose a number of countries and even for countries who stay the pool of singers wanting to participate could reduce. Then security requirements on top of that

Not even being dramatic, but an Israel win would not only be bad news for next year's contest, it would be catastrophic news for the EBU but for Eurovision as a whole, genuinely don't think it would recover

There a lot of people that vent their own frustrations about social-cultural issues and think "I"ll show them". People trying to shame them will only make them more angry and motivated to vote, these same people would just keep the show running next year.
It's a beautiful song = what this show should be about, that was prob helped by the fact there are a lot of jokes entries. It still is quite dependent on the running order, so, don't freak out now.

Silent majority will stand up even more on Saturday across Europe. :il: won't win. They don't need to but will do very well. :)

its still 8 points. italy gave 8 points to albania in the 2016 semi and 7 points in the 2017 semi.. so it seems plausible.

In all honesty the :nl: staging was less of a mess than I expected, it's actually quite good! I feel very proud of this, it's so incredibly Dutch and I feel like Joost did his parents proud!

My other favourites this semi were :am: :cz: :dk:

I think Netherlands had top 3 "staging/performance" today. It wasn't dull but it wasn't too busy, I think Armenia was slightly too chaotic. And it had too many camera cuts for my own taste so it was quite turing too watch but I at least like the song and the vocals were good.

I am now much less excited to watch 4 hours of eurovision on Saturday. Extra bottle of wine for me.
