I actually ended up listening to some of the songs after the show was over.

While I have Switzerland close behind Croatia and France, I don't think they are an unworthy winner. Enjoyed all three a lot.

Ireland and Greece were other personal favourites.

(sound-on)

:ie: Ireland crying behind the stage. "F--k the EBU. I don't even care anymore. F--k them!"
It's sad to see how the EBU has ruining their experience so much.
They are 100 % right though: Eurovision will always be bigger than the EBU. They have unleashed the dragon now. Let there be fire and renewal. (y)

Although I agree that there's clearly an issue with the jury results having such a sway on the final results, when you consider that the televote placed Israel 2nd, for clearly not the right reasons, I really don't know the best way to solve this issue

Edit: not sure I mean sway on the final results because that's what they're ultimately there for, but I understand the frustration when the discrepancy in placing between televote and jury is so high.
But to eradicate them entirely would cause absolute chaos, especially in years where there's so much outside influence

I agree with people that the ROTW votes seem a bit useless as they are clearly dominated by diaspora voting (and the 24h rule probably doesn't help).

Also looking at San Marino getting 16 points overall, 10 of which are from Spain and 2 from ROTW. That's not looking great for their next participations. And not to mention that it's quite unfair to Malta that they aren't last basically just because a country was voting for itself (Spanish people for a Spanish band)...

I don't see the problem with the juries, personally. Never have.

They aren't supposed to vote the same as the public, that's the whole point of having them.

Yes, on one hand, their opinions seem to not make sense sometimes, but removing juries all around or even limiting their influence wouldn't make much sense to me. Putting even more power to the televote would lead to the contest becoming a huge mess and this evening is the biggest evidence of that.

I feel this to be one of the less unique Eurovision editions when it comes to production variation - feels more like a corporate anniversary event. So much of past Eurovision participations and so little of actually learning about the uniqueness of Sweden or Malmö.

ANYWAY... I'd like to take a point to thank EVERYONE for participating in this eventful 2024 season journey. There were some BIG humps on the way (if to name some, a bit smaller - Israel (of course, a BIG one overall) and THE NETHERLANDS.
Honestly, the latter one truly IS a big one to digest... the FIRST time in ESC history when a COUNTRY gets SCRAPED! An UNHEARDFUL thing In ESCs history!
I'm NOT and NEVER WILL BE judging anyone. Let the authorities deside the outcome. Disappointed - I am. Overall.
I HOPE the different parties get the issues resolved soon. ...
ESC 2025 in SWITZERLAND! Can't wait!!! xmetal

Yeah, the whole edition felt very sterile and nostalgia bait-y. Remember Petra? Remember when we previously hosted? Remember these great 2000s artists? Remember ABBA? And so on. Malmö itself felt like a 2013 re-tread. This edition will mostly be remembered for the scandals, the toxicity and double standards.

And them saying they can't help but love Eurovision so much so they win. They like Melodifestivalen a lot more, otherwise why are there more British in the arena audiences than Swedish?

Shock value? What exactly was shocking about the Swiss entry?
I'd say it was a dramatic style 'Eurovision type' song. People love to call those kind of songs experimental now, they aren't but it sounds cool to say it.

Sending my warm greetings to every fan in the arena who stood for justice and peace.

The continent of freedom of speech? My ass.

EBU could give Erdoğan a good run for his money with this administration.

True, but even then Croatia got nine 12s versus Switzerland's one 12. And Croatia got twelve 10s versus Switzerland's one 10. Even with Israel getting all those protest 12s, it's very clear that with them removed it would still be the same situation. I think it's ridiculous. And not to rubbish coming 5th in the televote because that's a big achievement, 226 points is a lot and Nemo's entry was well received. It just feels unfair how the jury has for two years in a row stopped the public favourite winning, picking a song that can't even pick up 12s or 10s and is way behind in the public vote. I say this as someone as well who dislikes everything in the top 5. The 50/50 split isn't working.

You are right. Televote must be abolished. Finland qualification in the GF and Israel 2nd in the tele suggest so.

Or Bejba and king Serhat voted only for the memes they created.

Justice for the outspoken banned Dutch legends xheat

1) Joost
2) @DenizESC

It took less than 24 hours to DSQ Joost, with no tangible proof of physical contact, while Bambie has been fighting for a few days to DSQ Israeli delegation for blatantly treating her inappropriately since the first semi. Europe is officially the continent of double standards.

I hope the Israeli delegation will face some sort of sanctions for their inappropriate behaviour against certain artists. They can’t get away with their blatant attacks against artists just because they sponsor the contest.
