Don't know in Sweden, but in Spain the press conference isn't even broadcasted, so you are more than right.
I still find it kinda unfair for the artists. They are all so excited after the show and then some of them only get all this unrelated and full of politic propaganda questions...

Anyway, Let's stop playing their game and let's play ours:

I'm glad Iceland didn't qualify.
I still don't understand how it could became a fan favourite. It's so weird at so many levels.

The ones who have Norway among their favourites: please, take note.

GOD BLESS YA!! xbow xbow xbow

I agree with you. :)
Let's stop playing games. And play fair.
I probably don't like the same songs as you do, but it doesn't matter.
We're here because we love Eurovision. xheart xkiss

Suddenly people start attacking :is: xrofl2 No, it was great emotional performance. A bit repetitive and not very original song, but it was like Greta had it in the bag.

I don't even dare to predict, but I would say:
1. Hungary
2. Croatia
3. The Netherlands
4. Russia
5. Czech Republic
6. Cyprus
7. Austria
8. Azerbaijan
9. Armenia
10. Malta

We have a winner. :)

I didn't realise how weak was this year until seeing the songs in the grand show, most of them were even more terrible than the SF. I was dissapointed by Estonia on so many levels. Armenia was a pleasant surprise and Cyprus started to grow on me (nothing wow, but as we all know, with ESC you just end up appreciating the OK performances).

Seeing Greece not qualifying was a bit surreal, but let's face it, the song was embarassing, I can't believe they had internal selections for that. I'm also very sad for San Marino. It started as a joke for me, but I have to say it turned really classy.

Ok I'm not the only one to think so then. Cos yesterday I read a few times that yesterday's SF was the stronger one and I was like 'holy shit do I even want to watch on Thurday then?' worst semifinal I've seen in ages :?

They weren't memorable..I think it's even more shocking to say this, taking into consideration the fact that I knew the songs and I even liked a bit some of them.
I just hope Ukraine and Latvia won't screw everything up...they're basicly the only countries able to save this year for me.

My pre and post show rankings of the songs. Pre show rankings based on 1 recap and 1 full listen through.

Iceland got robbed! The performance was super good, exciting and I have no idea how it didn't qualify.

I think a reason why it is such a weak year (in my opinion, anyway - everyone is different!) is a lot of countries have opted for radio friendly songs, especially after the amount of ballads last year. Given the success of Heroes, Euphoria, and Only Teardrops in the last five years, it does show that contemporary pop is the way forward if you want to win.

Personally I quite like a lot of the songs this year. But nothing more. I'm not really excited this year over anyone particularly (okay, maybe Joe and Jake because of how damn adorable they are), I look back at last year and I really loved Heroes (both for the staging and the song), A Monster Like Me, Rhythm Inside... heck, even Golden Boy tried mixing a contemporary sound with a traditional Israeli sound. It was a lot more of a creative year with more variety.

One thing Eurovision should not be is generic, and a lot of these songs this year just having me saying meh. Where is the variety, the eccentric acts? Songs that try and relate to their native culture? Heck, we're even missing a few mighty ballads this year - think Polina last year. It just feels like everyone is playing it safe and trying to replicate what has had success in the past.

I hope Semi Final 2 surprises me as I've been staying awake from the rehearsals.

Sorry for being so negative haha. I'll still be in my element and absolutely love the show. Just disappointed with the lack of variety, creativity and the few eccentric acts we normally get. Its that is what makes Eurovision so special.

Ah, most things went just as expected for me here, it’s only that :is: screwed my predictions over like with so many of you.

Can’t believe :ba: has lost its 100% qualification record. For a few years already, I’ve been wondering which country would be the last to keep its 100% rate, and I’m sad to see one country which has, in my opinion, nearly always sent unusual quality music out of the race.

Obviously it would be Russia. Ukraine almost failed to qualify in 2012 and Azerbaijan have been relying on juries since 2014. I think Russia would qualify even if they sent Serhat singing something like The Social Network Song.

Yes - that's it!! I find the overall quality fairly good this year, because there are many songs I like. And in the polls I've given 8s and 10s. But only 2 12s!
And when some of my favourites are quite "flat" and fall through in their live performance, the overall quality does not strike me as "wow", like it did last year. I still think 2015 was the best year since 2009 - and I really LOVED my top 10 last year. This year I love my top 2... Even though my top 10 consists of a bunch of very decent and good songs.

Having said that; most of my top 10 is still to come. Including my two 12pointers. I havent lost hope for 2016 quite yet!

Good morning everyone, I'm new here on the forums. Anyway, I missed the semi-final yesterday due to my football training, could anyone explain what happened with Estonia and Iceland, two of my 5 favourites? I heard from some of you that both performances were a let-down?

For sure. I have no doubt the songs I mentioned in my post will be on my phone for years to come. I don't think I can say that about many this year. :(

No disrespect to Russia, but it would be a fitting winner in a year that has tried to be as copycat as possible and has such a lack of variety.

Estonia was creepy, I have to say, with weird stage presentation.

I have been saying for weeks Iceland would flop and she did. There was nothing in her performance if you ask me. Also, the way staging worked was not even close to Icelandic selection. I think she was simply lost among all these high-tech presentations this year and her presentation among all high-tech stuff was the weakest.

Anyway, I never believed she would do well despite fans were like "Ohhhh, she will win".

:?

Iceland was really good, no idea what happened there. (except for the fact she stood a bit off center for a few of the animations)

Juri on the other hand was quite cringy. He seemed way too stiff, the flirtatious looks were creepy, the moves seemed quite forced. I think that's why he didn't do quite as well as expected.

Great results! As for me, all yesterday's finalists totally deserved their qualification! Liked all of them.

Very happy for my country :ru:, of course.

Also very happy for :cz:, :at: and :mt:! Voted for these 3 countries. :D

Did people believe Estonia would qualify after that performance? It was my number 1, but he almost burst out laughing and the performance was really weird.
