Standout years in Eurovision for me are:

2004-2005, 2008-2009, 2012, 2018... and it's not as if I ignore the older ones, it's just that if you take all songs from most of the older editions, usually just a handful of each year are good enough... although I must say 1997-1998 were pretty good overall speaking...

my absolute #1 is from 2010 though, ironically a year that wasn't all that in overall quality

Well, that's a well known fact. Sand just pointed this out again. This does not mean that there are concrete signs of any of those countries to participate as long as Israel does.

When taking into account all the editions not even a handfull of each year stand a chance....

I voted, and my top 10 consists of:
2 entries from the 60s
3 from the 70s
3 from the 90s
2 from the 20s
1 entry from the last 8 years.

France being heavily overrepresented with 3 entries.

It feels the same for me, also NF announcements seems to be coming quite slow this year. But only few weeks to go and the NF season will be in full swing :-)

As long as we don't have screen overlays I'm happy. Nothing should be on screen that can't be seen at the live show. Apart from the obvious voting details, scoreboard, etc.
