Was there even a stage last year?

I might dislike it because there were no LEDs to be fair
sooooo boring in my opinion
but without the stage last year we wouldn’t see fuego so... or maybe parts of it in a performance featuring LEDs
fuck it though France, Portugal and Bulgaria should’ve had LEDs

Oh yes now I remember, it was the one with the whale carcass behind the artists.

I prefer not having leds at all rather than 8 acts performing before their very own selfie in 2017 lol.
I really liked the bridge, and it worked very well for some acts.
2010 didn't have LEDs either, but it was much worse than the one in 2018.

Not wanting to dance anymore, but I must dance
Logo won't be airing the Eurovision Grand Final in the US this year, due to unsatisfactory viewing figures.

Now, I wonder will the geoblock be lifted for Contest performances after 2015 on the YouTube channel? Similarly, would the block be lifted for the ESC site stream of the show?

Tumblr, mostly.
I absolutely did NOT miss the LEDs last year. It forced delegations to think creatively about staging and many of them brought props. 2017 was a horrible year in terms of staging however, largely because SO MANY countries decided to rely on LEDs and those accursed "selfie backdrops".

I'm so tired of hardcore Eurovision fans attending Eurovision in Concert & Eurovsion, tbh. I know some of them are lovely and great people but it's just f*cking annoying and super disrespectful that so many of them are not paying attention to the perfomances/performers and are talking to others non-stop and very loud. You can hear the crowd talking, laughing so loud in every Eurovision in Concert video. It's utterly annoying and tbh, it's the main reason why I have stopped attending Eurovision (I did attend Eurovision 2011-2015). Back in 2015, I was standing quite close to the stage and I was not able to even hear what Conchita Wurst was saying as a host, hardcore fans' talking overshadowed a few performers as well (especially the more silent songs). Utterly disrespectful... if you want to be drinkin' and chatting to your friends constantly whilst being on Grindr, please go into a bar but don't kill the fun for other guys who really want to listen the songs, watch the performances and cheer for their favourites.

Thank you.

I agree - and I get so annoyed when people have tickets to the main event and talk during performances and look dissatisfied to be there - like give me your tickets

Back in 2016 when I worked as a volunteer, I never felt any bad attitude between different journalists from different countries (I even worked during the 1st semi broadcast) but I´m pretty sure there are at least some people that really needs a lesson in how to behave like grown-ups there each year

Yes that's what I was pointing out to be fair because I get really disgusted by some people when I watch live-streams from the press-center
not anyone from ESCunited though, so I'm just curious if they're from ESC websites or just journalists or whatever

No idea, I guess it differs depending on which site it is, some are more childish than others

Allegedly (and I say that because I haven't been able to track down a valid news source) some Portuguese ESC fans have said that she was asked to perform at the Grand Final last year but turned it down because RTP's fee was too low.

Allegedly? This year she has new material, last year she didn't so it makes more sense to use this opportunity now than last year when she had nothing new to promote.

Anyways all hail LED screens!!! xcheer

I don't agree that having LED screens make acts lazy, for starters no one is forced to use them, it's an optional addition to the performance so it's all up to the acts.

Also, it is not certain that adding it to your performance automatically will give you an edge, it all comes down to the song and overall performance in the end and whether the LED used in the right way or in an unnecessary way (the latter is also very obvious).

I feel like people who don't want LEDs ar the same that want to bring back the live orchestra, why so afraid of options and new technology? ESC wouldn't exist if it would have continued to sound and look like it was during the 80's/90's, it doesn't mean that all those years were bad but music changed, technology changed and we have more options now to make an interesting performance for the viewers.

Personally, I feel like the reactions of people who praise LED screens to the four winds sometimes are a bit exaggerated considering we had one single edition without them in years.

As far as I know, screens aren't a crucial part of the contest, their presence doesn't make or break the shows: they are one element of the stage among others. I'm not against LEDs at all, yet last year proved to be much more interesting and exciting to me because there weren't any available on stage, which forced delegations to be more inventive.

We'll see what happens this year, I simply hope that all the technology at work in Tel Aviv won't mean another Kiev 2017 situation purely focused on screens, with an empty stage and very little creativity. I'd like a balance between LEDs and props tbh.

At the end of the day, it's not a matter of whether or not the singers will be able to fly or do fire-eating thanks to a stage that allows visual tricks, it's the quality of their staging ideas that will fit and enhance their performance imo.
