Now I'm trying to figure out what song you mean with what you said. I bet the 'conceptual lifeless song' is slovenia but the others I don't know right away. And popera is australia of course.

klsjdldksjsa

bangers (cyprus), gospel-ish song (montenegro), electronic for the straights (finland), the closest thing to rock (poland), industrial schlager (iceland), electronic fado (portugal), basic avicii song (estonia), balkan ballad (serbia), acceptance anthem (san marino)

spot on on the other two as well!

Personally, I think the semis are pretty equal in quality, they each have about an equal amount of entries that I like. I think semi 1 will probably be more interesting since it has quite a lot more variety than semi 2, even if the latter is more competent

I agree. Semi 1 is more diverse (and therefore more interesting) but semi 2 is "tougher to pass". We are in for a lot of excitment on both evenings :D

Tumblr, mostly.

Georgia's folk rock fusion song sounds like nothing we're used to hearing at ESC. (Mostly because songs that sound like "Keep on going" aren't very good :?)

The last days I've just been starting to think that this year isn't that bad after all.

BUT - watching the recaps of the semifinals got me coming down to earth again. I still believe this year is terrible. Even more now I have all of the performances one after another. I was waiting for the good songs to come but suddenly the recaps were over, leaving me disapoointed. No drive at all. Most of my faves are of the big 5 so maybe that's why as they are missing in the semis. Plus, a lot of songs I like in the studio version are plain noise live.

Don't get mad, my friends, like every year I still got a few songs I'm in love with which make me enjoying and happily looking forward to the contest! So just saying, no complaints! xlove

The running order is so strange this year. A lot of similar songs starting one after another. If I didn't knew it was decided by some folks, I would say they threw the dice this year! Are you sure that Björkman has again decided the running order? It doesn't have his pattern (except for the advantageous starting positions of the Scandinavian countries. And Australia. How else will they justify the huge amount of jury points they will - again - get this year? :D Joking, this year, Kate does deserve it!).

Ok so I just noticed that almost my entire top 10 is in semi final 1. I'm so nervous now, I feel like I'll only see a handful of songs that I actually like in the final now :'(

Not sure how I feel about this. I am a huge Madonna fan but I think the event is big enough without her shadow over the event.

As a huge Madonna fan myself I'm happy to see her perform again, it's a smart move for her as she'll be launching a new single in front of truly huge audience which is mostly her target audience. And she always puts on an awesome performance.

I'm going to ignore the "thought she was dead" comment. Totally unnecessary rude comment.
